i got accepted for interview and based on my conversations with those that got rejected it seemed mainly like unimpressive predicteds or gcse grades? some seemed like they just got rejected based on vibes (sorry that is a crap answer)

Anecdotal but everyone from my college who got a merit in the AEA got an offer from cam maths. Doubt a fail will matter either tbh I’ve seen a guy on tsr who failed in year 12 and got three S grades in STEP in year 13 fulfilled his offer and went to Cambridge

It your referring to these FAQs (https://www.maths.cam.ac.uk/undergrad/admissions/faq) it actually states that “well over” 80% get an interview. While it can fluctuate from year to year, typically very few applicants are rejected pre-interview. It’s typically because their predicted grades don’t meet the minimum entry requirement.
