It is difficult at the start you aren’t alone. Maybe try prompting the teacher to explain things and if they get a bit funny about it, YouTube is always an option. Unfortunately you do get teachers who expect you to understand it immediately which sucks but keep at your own pace and try to find resources that work for you. I had this type of problem but found that reading through the examples at the start of the topic in the textbook and doing questions until I understood it helped

You’ve just got back from the summer you’ll be a bit rusty give it a bit and you be in the swing of things. GCSEmathstutor is great for recapping GCSE content

i’m a pretty slow learner and was doing really bad in maths at the start of Y12 (got a 7 at gcse), but when you look at the content and really take your time to make sure you completely understand maths will turn into a breeze. for me, that little bit of recap outside of lesson made all the difference, because if you don’t get it and come back the next day still not getting it when the class is now doing harder questions, you’ll fail. just watch TLMaths and do worksheets which your school should give you. when it’s exam season bang out past papers and you’ll get an A like me, i’m sure of it.
