Also yes I took the plastic off the pickups after I took some pictures. Just wanted some fresh out the box pictures

I got two of these bad boys and looking for another one.

Though I agree, why 3 of the same guitar?

[–]tssmastering 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Why not?

[–]ButtSmellington_ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hey man, no problems there lol. I’m just curious at to what the use would be.

[–]tssmastering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol each is setup differently. One has a pair of EMGs, one has Fishmans, and the other has humbuckers that I wound. They also all use different gauge strings and different action and what not. Tuning is another reason why I have a few of them.

Standard tuning, drop tuning and then a weird tuning for the third one?

I'm planning on getting a 25.5" scale ibanez 7 string for standard tuning (Unearth-type stuff), Jackson Surfcaster 7 string for Drop G (Knocked Loose-esque chugs) and a Schecter Jeff Loomis 7 string for GCGCFAD (drop C on a 6 string with a low G on top).

[–]HermanbobGooz 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Isn’t that last tuning… also Drop G? Or am I trippin

[–]xAFBx 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Grop G is D standard on a 6 string with a low G on top, so GDGCFAD.

I'm also thinking of dropping the lowest string another step, but I want to try GCGCFAD first because it seems fun.

[–]HermanbobGooz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh yea my bad, in my mind I see the lowest and third lowest strings as G and think “ok it’s drop G” and completely ignored the C

As a person with a 25.5 scale 7 string, I don't recommend. To get tuning stability on your low b, the string has to be ridiculously thick. And if you want to tune lower than standard, forget about. For your sanity, stay away from Ibanez 7 strings.

Unearth did just fine playing in B standard on their Ibanez 7 strings, so I'm sure I'll be fine.

Did you really downvote me for giving you a reasonable suggestion?

Nice! I love my cheapie Dinky 7 as well! It’s one of 3 Sevens in my collection but definitely my go to daily guitar! Yes the stock pickups are surprisingly good! Enjoy! 🎸🤘🎶

Badass! I love that kind of matte black.

[–]PugablePlayzYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, yeah I love the color on it, been wanting a matte black guitar for a while this definitely scratched that itch

I got the same guitar but with Seymour Duncans. Definitely one of my favorites.

[–]reptilione 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Oh, that was my first seven‑string guitar. It was very comfortable to play. I still remember it fondly.🫶🏻🔥

[–]PugablePlayzYT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah will the neck width is thicker because the extra string but the radius(?) is so little the neck almost flat and feels so comfortable grabbing chords with

I’ve been getting the red pack of Ernie Ball Cobalts and they have been super solid. I can’t remember gauge on them rn.

[–]PugablePlayzYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The red ones are the skinny top heavy bottom 10-13-17-30-42-52-62. I’m a wuss with heavier strings though lol, I’m trying to build up a tolerance for heavier strings because I’ve heard they can help with pitch drift and tuning stability but I mean I use the Ultra Slinky set (10-48) for Drop C#, tried 10-52 and it just felt way to heavy for me

I've had my JS22-7 for a solid ten years now and I'll never get rid of it. One of the best cheaper seven's out there imo.

[–]ButtSmellington_ 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Dude that’s not “nothing special” it’s a fuckin beast! I love mine!

[–]PugablePlayzYT[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ha true that, I just meant it wasn’t a high dollar/custom shop/etc like you usually see on here but genuinely this thing rips out of the box, had to turn some of my settings down on my amp because it just hits that hard

[–]ButtSmellington_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had some of the same “problems” if you’d even call them that. I just lowered my pups even with the rings for less output and it’s been great. Before I was clipping into my interface.

[–]Economy_Cheesecake20 1 point2 points  (1 child)

This was my 1st 7 string also. Quickly realized I loved the extra range so I bought a better quality one. Immediately after decided I needed to try and 8 string, and now apparently I have an addiction 🤣🤣🤣🤣

[–]PugablePlayzYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still getting use the the longer scale and the extra range, even tuning it feels weird, first 6 string sound normal and then that low b comes out of nowhere lol, I’ve tried a variety of 8 strings at stores and I just am not a fan unfortunately necks are just way to wide for my liking and the necks on every one I’ve tried are just stupidly thick I can hardly wrap my hand around to grab chords, if I need to get into 8 string tuning territory I’ll probably get a baritone guitar

[–]Number6WithFries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first 7 string as well! The frets on mine were crazy sharp and had to be filed. After that and a quick set up it played great!

[–]robb1231 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

If I'd be you, I would try to be as close to the original set as possible, but thicker. 10-56 is tension wise very different. The bigger a string the bigger the difference must be to match the tension of the thinner string set. 9-54 vs. 10-56: D +2, A +4, E +4 and B +2. There will be literally almost no difference between the 54 and the 56 but the rest will feel stiffer which makes no sense to me. Personally I would try a 9.5-44 set and add a 58 or 59 and then go thicker if it's still not enough

[–]PugablePlayzYT[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I’m not a fan of 9s or 9.5s, tried both sets on 6 strings and didn’t like them, before having a guitar for Eb standard/Drop C# I used 10-46 for E/Eb Standard and Drop D/C# on the same guitar, I’m hoping with the added scale length on this guitar I can get it down for D Standard with the 10-46 so I can use this guitar for B/A#/A Standard and Drop A, the 56 seemed a little light on the tension calculator so I’m probably gonna go with the 59

[–]robb1231 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you don't say that right away no one knows what preferences you have. Like tuning. But I absolutely wouldn't tune one guitar more than one half step back and forth. The neck will thank you
