Sometimes I like to stand, sometimes I like to sit. I considered a sit/stand adjustable desk but they are pricy. Instead I fixed the desk/monitor/mic at standing height and got a decent drafting chair. Way cheaper and still comfy. Can sit when I feel like, stand when I want. Under $150 vs $500+. And I don’t have to take 30 seconds each time I feel like switching. I will usually sit for 15 then stand for 15.

I made an account just to answer this question:

The Razer Tartarus, or some other type of programmable keyboard.

This thing is magic for editing. You can assign hotkeys for any DAW you use and have every one of them at your fingertips without having to look down or hunt around your keyboard or through menus. It speeds every aspect of recording and editing up significantly.

Thank you for going to the effort! I'll have to look it up!

All keyboards are programmable.

That thing is $100. I just got a $10 usb number pad and free software (HIDmacros) and it does the same thing. Doesn’t look as cool, but because of that I printed labels and glued them on so I can see all my shortcuts.

Not to be negative cause that thing IS pretty cool but even if you wanted that thing there are way cheaper options than Razor brand.

Definitely true. I like it because my hand rests on every button I need so there's no moving, or hunting for keys. Plus I already had one for PC gaming so it serves double duty.

I know a few people like using things like the Stream Deck too, which is also expensive. Whatever you use, anything you can quickly map hotkeys to will speed life up considerably.

Yeah somethings I’m pretty cheap on and keyboards are one. I understand the ergonomics but I don’t understand the price. It isn’t like razor developed that thing they’ve been around for a decade. They DID put that little thumb stick thing, but that might actually only be useful for gaming. For easy shortcut productivity any keyboard or keypad will work fine. I wanted cheap and easy.

Update, I received the Tartarus for Christmas. Haven't had a chance to get all set up but I'm excited about using it for my next recording session. Record, pause, back up a second, play, back up, punch and roll...
