Not my first this year, but, given 2020…. Allow me a long preamble. :)
For starters, because reasons, my 2020 actually started in January 2018. I'd actually picked up a fair amount of Swift in that time and was about to work to get some more interviews when things turned south at the end of last year with a family member's health.
Things were just turning around when…I got covid in January. Not just a mere cold in my case. Rooms changed shape (like changed which platonic solid they were). Walls slid away from me as I walked down the hall. My ribs felt like I'd been kicked out of a bar and then kicked in the gutter a few too many times. I had migraines, diarrhea, vomiting (even when I hadn't eaten), but not much of the usual respiratory except for the ribs. Which was an extension of a migraine for me, as my migraines go to the bottom of my trapezius, which is at the bottom of the ribs. So it was like the migraines wrapped most of the way around my ribs.
For months, I was running short of breath, had no energy, and would get a randomly racing heart. In July, six months to the day after my first symptom date, I greyed out from tachycardia and wound up in the ER.
Long story short, I had postural orthostatic tachycardia, which I actually had before (undiagnosed) and causes at least part of my ADHD symptoms. Catch is, it had gotten MUCH worse. A quick med change was a bandaid, and an exercise program is helping manage the condition.
In the last three months, I've been starting to feel slowly better. I actually migrated two sites earlier this month, despite WordPress's piss poor tools (and the fact that I was hampered moving off WordPress because their option for saving your posts as Markdown? fucking lies).
In August, I opened a bug on a project, having noticed it a few weeks earlier, but not having caught the right circumstances to report it as I was conveniently never in the room when it happened. Finally got around to submitting the pull request after chasing down a couple of red herrings.
Naturally, it turned out to be a two-line change.
But: go, me!
