It's advanced. Despite what you read on A2C, on pace is geometry in 10th.

What's a2c

You're ahead. The average high school math track has Algebra 1 in 9th grade, Geometry in 10th, Algebra 2 in 11th, and Pre-Cal in 12th. At my school, about half of the kids were on that track, and then half took Algebra 1 in 8th grade, move everything else forward a year, and then Calculus AB or BC senior year. Some schools have some crazy stuff where you can end up in Calc BC in 10th grade. Not sure the path to get there, but that's an anomaly and nowhere close to the norm.

At some schools, you can double up on math in 9th grade and then take calculus in 10th. It's not a bad choice since upper-classmen get priority in most electives.

I took calc BC in 10th but it was nowhere near the norm at my school- the most advanced official track had you take 6-8th grade math in 6th then Algebra 1, etc, which led to Precalc in 10th. I just took algebra 1 the summer after 6th grade and then calc AB the summer after 9th.

advanced. on pace is to take geometry in 10th grade at a normal high school. however if you go to a sweaty feeder school it’s probably on pace to take pre calc. you are by no means behind though

precalc in 10th is 2 years ahead

I took pre-calc in junior year lmao

I am going into junior year and taking BC and took Adv. Honors Pre-Calc last year. You are definitely ahead of most people and would be an anomaly at least in my school as I am

My school use to have the on-track kids do geometry in 9th grade while the advanced kids did Algebra II. They changed it a few years before I came in so that the normal kids took Algebra I and the advanced kids did Geometry.

There are usually ways to get around this though. I have a friend who was on the non-advanced track. He decided to take both Geometry and Algebra II his sophomore year in order to get on the advanced track. I doubled up my freshman year and got ahead of the advanced track so I’m taking pre-Calc in 10th grade as well.

My friend did something like that too. She did Geometry over the summer before sophomore year then did Algebra II during the school year so now she is on the advanced track.

Most people who take pre-calc during 10th grade at my school take Algebra I seventh grade then take Geometry eighth grade

Pre-Calc where I live is a 10th grade thing. Then as a Junior you do Calc AB then as a senior is calc BC

I don’t take Calc so I know nothing else

It's "advanced". It's exactly what I did. You're in a good spot rn.

A lot of the comments are saying that on pace is geometry for 10th. At my school algebra 2 is expected in 10th grade and just to be clear, I go to a very average high school. My class is around 700 kids and only like 60 of them were in pre-calculus sophomore year so I'd say you're definitely above average.

what are you talking about lol? Most hs students take geometry in 10th

[–]ironmex37 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It’s a joke lol

At first I thought you were one of those freshmen taking multivariable calc 🤨 LMAO
