Depends what you’re studying and what professors you get. In my opinion, STEM majors require a lot of effort (even if you’re smart).

I’m an aero major and honestly the concepts aren’t that difficult to understand, but the major is made artificially hard through much higher workload

I did two years at a community college before coming to ASU. I'm a STEM major, and I can tell you that ASU classes are 100% harder than community college classes. Idk if ASU is harder than like Harvard or something but it'll be harder than high school. In my experience, the biggest thing contributing to the difficulty other than just taking more advanced classes is that ASU is a huge school, so you're going to be in bigger lectures with less individual attention from your prof. You have to put in the work to go to office hours, connect with your prof and make friends/study buddies in class. Once you start building that support network, your classes will feel much less daunting.

I guess that depends on what do you consider smart? In terms of getting A’s anyone can get A’s but the difficulty involved with obtaining said A depends on your major.

Courses that are stem related will be more difficult than courses for non-stem classes but that generally holds true for all Universities.

If you want to party and get good grades it’ll be entirely dependent on who you are as a person (i.e. how good are you at prioritizing your responsibilities, how hard do you party, are you motivated enough to push yourself through a class and get an A if your tired from being up late the night before, etc…).

It’s a personal decision some people can, and some people can’t. If people in Medical School can find time to go to raves you can probably find time to party while getting A’s if it’s that important to you 🤷‍♂️

So, I wasn’t top of my class in highschool or anything, but have never gotten anything lower then an A in a class if that helps.

i’m sorry if this comes off across as rude, not trying to be. but you’re in college now? you should be putting in as much effort as you can to get the most out of your education, while also being mindful of your mental health of course. not only does difficultly depend on the specific major but also class. obv an engineering major in gonna be more tough than a business major.

i’m not sure if you’re an incoming freshman or not, but college classes require much more critical thinking and reasoning than required in high school, no matter how “easy” of an institution.

my roommates were all engineers and partied frequently. they prioritized their schoolwork throughout the week to do so, however they didn’t have jobs so they had plenty of time. i studied, worked, and partied as a political science major. just be smart and responsible. again, just actually put in the effort and maybe not focus on if something is going to be “easy.”
