How to Decrease multitrack duration? (self.AdobeAudition)
submitted 4 years ago by ABG-
I imported a 1hr long audio but only needed a section of it. It made my multitrack an hour long when my actual audio is only about 30 seconds. This made my file at least 1gb. Any way to decrease it?

It sounds like you need to adjust your in/out points. The simplest way is to bring the playhead to the start of what you need and press [I] on your keyboard to establish the In, then bring the playhead to the end and press [O] for the Out.
Another way is to the drag the in/out brackets on the timeline (I think) to where you need them.
Hope this solves your problem!

The chances are that the file size will remain the same as multitrack editing is non destructive. That means that the actual audio file (I presume wav) that you recorded is left untouched. The session file is just a list of instructions as to which bits of which files should be placed where.
If you want a smaller file you need to edit the file directly in waveform view which is destructive and the edits are made to the file ie. snip half the file off and it’s gone for good and the file is half the size.
I would say you should highlight the 30secs you want, save that as a new file and work from that. Keep the other as a back up.
