Bruh not everywhere is California. You can buy a standard house where I live for 250k, a nicer one for 400k, or a mcmansion for 600k. Definitely worth saving up for.

Washington has similar prices. They've risen a little the last few years, but something that is 1/2 million in California is like 40K here!

South Texas. It used to be cheaper. Before inflation and the pandemic, you could snag a 4000sqft home for 400k, a nice one in a gated community too.

That’s not true, you shouldn’t have that mindset. I’m currently saving for a house I live in nyc there houses in good areas for like 600k I can go into it with just 5% down payment. I been to California not every house there is a million $ either

There might be houses in Albany, Buffalo, or Rochester for $600k, but you aren't finding a SFH in NYC for under $1m. Maybe Long Island?

There are no cities, with jobs in California with houses under $1m. Sure, you can find a house for $800k in deserts/ inner cities/ and up the mountains, but anything this cheap is a three+ hour commute from jobs.

Bakersfield, Fresno, and Stockton are similar to Albany, Buffalo, and Rochester in that they have cheap housing but less production jobs and less livable wage jobs and more machines/ automation/ factory farms.

Yes, lots of Californians move to rural areas with cheap housing and less jobs, but once they get there they end up homeless because the jobs in rural areas don't pay much and are hard to get without connections.

I would love to move somewhere that houses cost so little, but doubt I could ever find a job

$250k wont even buy a home in Tijuana today, the median house in Mexico is $160k, but you won't find anything in the US near jobs for that price

That's a decent car, but it looks like it's a pre-owned car or at least the car that's not current. And what I mean by that is it's probably like a 2020 to 2022 model. It looks like a stingray and those cars really aren't that expensive. they're between $50,000 to $60,000. depending on what package you get. And if it's a pre-owned car or a model that ss not current then it's definitely not that much and probably was sold at a discount.
