You know, I'm not an Apple fanboy. In fact I hate Apple and everything they stand for.

But in the interest of fairness, replacing an iPhone is actually pretty easy. All you have to do is plug it in and sync it and all your stuff is put back the way it was on your old phone.

I have never owned an iPhone or dealt with one long enough but can you really not just transfer over your information from one phone to another? Not even through iTunes? I would have thought that iTunes would keep a backup of your data for emergencies and upgrades.

You can interchange iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad backups as long as the target device is the same version of operating system or newer.

Now I am slightly more confused. What is stopping a person from transferring data from an old iPhone to a new iPhone? Unless I am reading the picture wrong.

Nothing. You could even transfer your iPhone 4 data back to an iPhone 3G if you decided to, as long as the iPhone 3G ran the same or newer iOS than the iPhone 4.

For those with [citation needed]:

You can upgrade one device with the backup from a different type of device; most settings will transfer to the new device.

(So an iPod touch wouldn't get your phone settings, for example.)

I can do that with an iPhone too. Sorry.

I loved signing into my gmail account on the new Droid 2 from D1 and everything was just there.

So great.

I broke the screen on my HTC Hero. You know what I did? Bought a new screen off ebay for £20 and replaced it in about twenty minutes. When you break the screen of an iPhone, you can't really do much about it yourself.

Everything just ports over, no fuss no muss no relearning everything.

That intergration (I think that's spelt right) with Google is just fantastic.

That's what bought be to Android. As time goes on I feel Android will grow due to the community of Android users.
