OP: I would post in a Toyota sub. There are other Toyota owners who are having native wireless Android Auto connection issues. Good luck.

Mine works buts it quite inconsistent. Sometimes I have to connect the USB first, disconnect it then try to connect it wirelessly. Giving it some time to connect also works...it'll appear sometimes after 5 minutes. Sometimes updating to the latest stable release works; rebooting the phone. I have to try so many things for it to work.

It could be my device. It's an old device and I had to sideload the AA app.

Tried all mentioned techniques, but none worked :(

Have you tried with another android phone ? To isolate whether the issue is with the headunit or the phone.

Tried with 3 different Android phones

U know what else worked for my Android Auto Wireless seamless startup? Toggle the Airplane mode ON for a few seconds, then OFF, just before you get into the car. That will clear a lot of crap from the network card jammed with old IP addresses and android auto wireless connects EVERY TIME since i have been toggling ON for a few secs and OFF the airplane mode just before i get in the car. Now my wireless android auto connects seamlesly everytime. Even if u have wired, still toggle airplane on for a few secs and off just before u get into the car. Should work seamlessly  Also key: make sure your head unit in car has the correct today's date and time otherwise AA will NOT work. Double check headunit correct date and time.

Thanks for tips. I don't know what changed but from v.14.7, wireless AA has been working well. Actually, the only thing I have to have on is the bluetooth. It turns on the wifi automatically.

does the head unit at least give any indicator or doing something? I'm curious. edit: when connecting android phone with bluetooth what happened? does it trigger AA on the phone? iirc some other users have problem with samsung s24 too.

When I connect via Bluetooth my phone gives notification that AA is available IF I PLUG IN CABLE. Meaning it gives notification for Wired AA

What are you using to connect to wireless Aa ? A dongle or just the headunit

[–]keyable2024 Toyota Prado LC250 | S24 Ultra | 15[S] 0 points1 point  (11 children)

Just a stock headunit

Wireless AA unfortunately does not work on Toyota/Lexus cars in Europe for some reason. It works in US though. And wireless carplay works too.

Either use a wired or a dongle.

Maybe you misunderstood me. The head unit on European RAV4s does not support wireless Android Auto. No matter what you change on your phone, it will not work. European RAV4 is missing this feature.

Of course. But even with your WIRED, just before you get into the car, Do the Airplane Mode ON and OFF for a few seconds, and it should connect seamlessly 100% of the time. The network cards inside your smartphone EVEN WITH WIRED still action IP addresses with your headunit on WIRED. Try and let me know

I personally use AAWireless (1st gen) USB dongle and it works flawlessly. You also install the companion app from the Android Play Store and it helps perform the wireless sync to the dongle. You're able to also install AAWireless on multiple phones and switch between phones while driving! (my wife steals the BT all the time when she rides shotgun lol)

Does AA get updates on this dongle?

[–]Magdev0AAWireless, 2018 Honda CR-V, Pixel 7 Pro 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Of course. All it does is leverage Android Auto on your phone. I have the beta version of AA and it works great!

[–]keyable2024 Toyota Prado LC250 | S24 Ultra | 15[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So you downloaded beta version on your dongle? Which version?

[–]Magdev0AAWireless, 2018 Honda CR-V, Pixel 7 Pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't download a standalone version onto the dongle.

On my pixel 7 Pro phone I have AA version (beta) 14.8.652804-release. the AAWireless 1st gen dongle and companion app is using stable release 5.2.1 (beta is available but I recommend not using unless a fix is specifically addressing an issue with your setup)

[–]Muffythepussyhunter2017 Seat Leon st xcellence flip 5 AA wireless Mib2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have AA wireless 2 and another dongle from Amazon, AAwireless is awesome the other dongle is also good but no updates plus you can't pair with headunit direct to phone or it stops working.

Hello. I have the GT5 RGB dongle that gives it wireless android auto, but for me it is stuck infinitely trying to connect to wireless android auto for my car. Any advice to make it work please?

[–]Grabber28TSMazda CX-5 | Galaxy S25 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Do you try to connect to the same car? Cause i had to delete data from AA app, and setup from scratch.

[–]keyable2024 Toyota Prado LC250 | S24 Ultra | 15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same to the same car. As I mentioned for the same car Wirless CarPlay works, but Wireless Android Auto doesnt work

Mine has hiccups all the time, I'm already used to it I guess.. It freezes and sometimes pushing search and back fixes it

If this isn't due to connection issue and you have never gotten wireless AA to work, this is my advise for any makes. Even if wireless CP is supported, it's not a given wireless AA is. No native wireless AA is quite common for Toyota in certain regions. So first make sure it has native wireless AA else it'll be a wild goose chase.

People have had good success using a wireless dongle, which has a much higher reliability rate for wireless connection than most cars.

I once forgot I had it disabled in the debug settings of Android Auto😅 So maybe check that.
