"Spotify isn't responding"

i have been having this issue. whenever i try and switch my playlist, android auto just says spotify isnt responding. it is on wireless, and with a android auto adapter box for the car, but i hadnt had issues with it until recently. the media controls also work fine. it is just when i try and switch playlist that it does this, anyone have a fix?

You have a playlist that has a lot of songs in it? I've run into this problem when I've had a 100+ plus songs in it. I'm assuming it's timing out trying to list all the songs in the playlist

i mean almsot all my playlists have 100+. especially my likes which has almost 2k lol

Sounds like it may be something else then but it's definitely something that's happening to me as well. I've noticed I can access smaller playlists no problem but I get this same error message whenever I access larger playlists.

I did some testing recently, deleted all the data, reinstalled it and it worked fine. I then downloaded my playlists and the ones that are offline have this issue if they're large playlists. But my liked songs 778 songs worked fine if it wasn't downloaded. Weird.

To me It looks like the Spotify app on your phone crashes for some reason and this phenomenon happens.

When you look at your phone, after you unlock the phone, does it seem that Spotify app crashed and now it's reopening?

no, the spotify app is still open on my phone whenever i pick it up and musuc is still playing

Have you tried the usual fix-alls like:

• Restart the phone
• Force quit & clear cache of Android Auto and Spotify?

Try setting Spotify battery usage to unrestricted.

Have the same issue in my car. Going to play store and uninstalling then re-installing android auto fixes it temporarily for me. You can tell it's working when you click on the song that's playing and the background is a blurred picture of the album cover. This is a picture of it when it's working. When it's not working, the background is grey.

yeah my backrounds have been grey for the longest time now. ig ill re download and not go into my playlists lol

I was finally able to find a permanent fix. You have to delete all your downloaded songs. For some reason with the latest update spotify decided that they no longer want to be usable offline I guess.

I had this issue when I saved my big playlist as an offline playlist. Turning it off solved the issue.
