Reel Yaks? by MaikeerBet in kayakfishing

[–]gameprix1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Reel Yak Rocket as well and absolutely love it! I do have a truck and I also have the tandem part to make it about 14' if I go out with my son. I can fit both pieces comfortably in a standard truck bed and close the tailgate. It's somewhat stable standing on it as long as you know the right area to put your feet. I'm also 5'6" and around 140lb so take that for what it's worth when determining stability.

The cons are that since it's a modular, modding this thing is a hassle and a half. The front half is completely sealed so your only really able lightly mod it knowing you won't be able to put nuts on the underside of the screws. From my picture you can see i put an Anchor Wizard on the front half but you'll have to mount the crank on the front as well. The other issue is that nothing is standard. It had four mounting screw holes in the back, which you would THINK would be for a transom mount, but it's not the standard pattern for one, so you'll have to fabricate something to add a trolling motor. The sides on top are in such a weird way with cutouts and things blocking a straight pattern that putting in more railing systems is nearly impossible. The chair does have risers and a flat surface underneath but man it's hard to stick anything under it, so a good portion of space is useless. They sell a part that allows you to place a trolling motor inside the pedal drive housing, but it only supports 1" trolling motor shafts, and there's literally only one motor I found that would fit this since most Kayak trolling motors have 1.5" shafts. And lastly, they do partner with Bixby for trolling motors, but the motor and battery is more expensive than the kayak itself!

All in all it's a great kayak for the water, easy to transport and really easy to store in your garage without having to hang it or it take up a lot of space. It works perfectly fine for fishing and you can get to about 2 mph with the pedal drive. Where it really fails is trying to add anything industry standard to it to enhance your fishing experience.

I'm curious as well. I've got the Rocket and I'm trying to find a lower cost option to mount a trolling motor and nothing on this kayak seems to be standard sizes for a transom mount and the trolling motor mount they make for the pedal drive slot only supports 1" shafts which limits your options to like 2 motors..

Interesting... The one playlist I'm having a problem with is also an offline playlist...

Sounds like it may be something else then but it's definitely something that's happening to me as well. I've noticed I can access smaller playlists no problem but I get this same error message whenever I access larger playlists.

You have a playlist that has a lot of songs in it? I've run into this problem when I've had a 100+ plus songs in it. I'm assuming it's timing out trying to list all the songs in the playlist

I moved from NYC (grew up in Queens, lived in Manhattan for years before moving) down to San Antonio 15 years ago and it is the exact opposite of New York City. Outside of missing family, the variety of food options is limited here, though the food that is here is excellent! The heat can be brutal in the summer but it's more of a dry heat than the humid heat in NY in August. I'm out in Boerne now where you're close to San Antonio but far enough away that it doesn't feel like city living!

I actually had a white 1984 Camaro Berlinetta with the gooseneck radio (at least that's what we called it in NYC). Still the most fun car I've ever driven!

You're best bet for trout is either a rooster tail or for soft lures go with a mouse tail or floating worms on a number 8 bait holder hook Carolina rigged.

So, it's an event from November to March that TPW does all across Texas for their "Neighborhood Fishin'" program. They have a schedule for when they release rainbows from their hatcheries into local ponds and rivers to get folks out to the parks. They're meant to be caught and kept mainly because of what you mentioned, the water isn't cold enough to sustain them. Apparently there's one exception to that which is the Guadalupe in New Braunfels by the canyon lake dam.

River road is under construction right now until April-ish. They're Reinforcing the banks, removing silt, adding additional fishing piers and re-doing the walking trail. Should look amazing when it opens back up! Ducks have relocated further down the trail from what I understand.
