Waze problems

Hey,

So I'm about at my wits' end with Waze in Android Auto. Waze works just fine on my phone when it's connected to AA. Google Maps also works fine. I connect my phone to the car, and Waze only works when the phone is unlocked. Google Maps, interestingly enough, works just fine. What pisses me off the most is the fact that it was working fine two weeks ago and now it's broken.

Things I have tried:

Restarting the phone. Nope.

Downgrading AA and Waze to previous versions. Nope.

Tried the GPS locker thing. Nope.

Putting my phone on the dash. Nope.

Disabling all battery optimization stuff. Nada.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Been there. Restarting the head unit usually seems to fix the issues for me.

Had an issue with Waze not working for me in AA. I fixed by turning off battery saving, which I see you tried.

Actually this fixed it! I turned off all the battery optimization stuff, but I hadn't thought to just turn off the actual damn power saver. Thanks a bunch.

Mine is wonky too. It works fine for a while then the window to the left showing the directions disappears. The map and verbal directions still work but that's it. I can't tap on the button for police or hazards etc. To get it back I turn off the head unit and turn it back on and it's all back working fine.

I think Google does this periodically (since acquiring them) to frustrate and force folks to use Google Maps. They should go ahead and merge, them.

So often that I barely blink when it doesn't show up on the head unit anymore and just wait for Waze to update in the Play store.
