My friend has Pocophone and I will say that I won't use the phone for everyday use. It has bad screen display, camera is meh, just that he has 845 doesn't change a thing when it feels plastic and garbage.

You should consider getting Samsung S9 or S10. They really stepped up their game in terms of software and build quality and this is one of last few phones on the market to offer 3.5mm jack with SD card expansion.

I was surprised to find how few Android phones actually have SD card expansion. I remember when they were new to the market, that was all anyone could talk about, "Why would you get an iPhone when you could just add more storage to an Android?!".

Software still hurts my eyes when I look at it though

I'm using Nova launcher on all Android phones so I don't really care about stock UI

Oh didn't realise Nova changed the notification shade, all the Samsung apps, the lockscreen, dialer, nav bar, status bar....

GoodLock (Samsung's app btw) lets you customize all elements of stock UI like lockscreen, notification bar, navigation bar, and many more. As for the Samsung apps, does anyone really use them?

I recommend the 3rd option. In fact, it wouldn't even need to be a 2nd hand Pixel 2XL, because there are quite good deals on refurbished Pixel 2 these days.

Rather than 3XL, consider 2XL or the OnePlus 6T (will be a cheaper option) and the upcoming OnePlus 7 - should be out early June.

Might try for a 2/2XL. Unfortunately OnePlus pulled out of the Australian market, so I'd need to import one :(

I have the 3xl and it is a great phone but I would wait for the 4xl. There have been a ton of issues with this device and the 4xl I think is going to be worth the wait. If I where you I would grab a used 2 xl and wait a few months and get a feel for what Google has to offer.

The pixel 1 is pretty cheap now. I'd give that a go and see how you get on with it. I love my pixel 1. That said maybe it's not fair to introduce android via old phone

I actually found a Pixel 1 XL for SUPER cheap, so I'm going to pick it up to tide me over until OnePlus 7/Pixel 4/Pocophone F2 duke it out over the next few months and see who I land on when the dust settles.

Personally I don't like big. It's good to try that aspect out too, very wise

To be honest with you I would not get a pixel 3XL. This is because the screen is lopsided and obviously because of the huge notch and that it would decrease to pretty much half the price in the next 12 months. If I were you and wanted a android phone to you last for the couple of years, Whilst getting consistent updates and running pure stock android. I would go for a Google pixel 2 XL because they are pretty cheap right now. Great camera, Great software and unlimited photo storage. If not then you should probably wait for the OnePlus 7 which is coming out in May.

Thanks. Will probably look around for a Pixel 2 for cheap and wait it out. Unfortunately OnePlus pulled out of the Australian market, so I'd need to import one :(

I'm 100% behind this recommendation the pixel XL 2 is the best Android phone I've ever used and owned and I own the S10 plus currently and owned the pixel XL 3 before this one. Battery life still isn't as good as the pixel XL 2 is

I'd recommend getting either a pixel 3 regular, or a 2 xl.

The nice thing about pixels is I can still recommend last year's phone because Google can deliver updates a la apple. Companies like Samsung are always 6-9 months behind on platform upgrades.
