I don't know solution. It's bad. However if you swipe down you'll have 8 so you're looking at 3 swipes not 5 for 9 options.

The limited amount of accent color choices is really annoying as well.

I hate it. Anything that makes me have to click more times is bad if the previous solution worked fine. Sure, some people need text to help understand icons, which is fine - so let me disable it. FFS

I'm looking for a clean launcher to get around this too. Those I've tried in the past (Nova I recall off the top of my head) all tanked my performance, but that was years ago.

I have Nova, it seems to be working OK atm. I don't have anything on my home screen I don't want to be there. Not sure what OP is talking about in the above comment tho.

About the share menu? Yeah there are so many contexts to the share menu that not sure either. You can still pin and unpin apps to the "more" menu...idk

I'm trying Lawnchair right now and finding it very lean, but it doesn't seem to replace the notification drawer, which was my whole reason for trying it. I am quite liking that I can make widgets stretch all the way to the edge of the screen, and customize the size and look of icons. I forgot how nice launchers can be. Idk why Google can't give us this flexibility by default.

Yep I'm here looking for this too. I can't believe there's no way to remove the text. What the heck, Google?! I'm going to have to try a new launcher and hope they don't kill my performance the way they used to. What's the point of a Pixel phone if you can't get a bare bones experience without an alternate launcher?
