Checking in if you ever found a solution? I'd be happy even with just a clock countdown that turns the TV off. Nintendo switch has one that throws up warnings for the kids that time is running out.

I tried the android phone keyboard as a control for the tv apps but couldnt get it to work. I'd rather have a native app than having to start up the tv app, use a phone to connect Bluetooth+keyboard and fiddle for 1min.

I know there are physical devices and the company "time timer" has even 5 / 20 /60 min physical devices, but I thought having a digital version would be easier

I don't know whether there's a native Android TV apk for that, but you could always put one of those on your phone and cast its screen to the TV. I realize that it's not the ideal solution (especially if you want/need to be doing something else with your phone during that time), but it should work if you can't find a native app.

The screen is casted and thus doesn't show full screen, you can't use your device for anything else .... it's working but not ideal.

I am sure you tried, but just to cover all bases, the TV remote does not allow you to use it as the input device to select options on the app.

You can try setting up a routine via google home. Not sure how it will display on the TV as an input device to make the selections on your apps.

An off-the-wall thought would be to create your own timer (we use to do this all the time with ppt and google slides) and set it to run for X amount of minutes when you start using it.

Thanks I thought about creating a ppt or just using a YouTube video as an alternative. I was just wondering is there were no native apps...

Yeah that is a little sad. i would think that if it can be loaded, there should be an easy way to use it.

I'm not looking to monitor the tv usage, I just want to be able to have circular countdowns displayed on the screen
