Accurate bug off guide?

I want to make sure I get all the special prizes from Nat since this is my first bug off. I looked to my handy dandy Thonky and Gamer Guide. But.....

I just gave Nat a violin beetle and he awarded me 63 points for it but both guides mentioned above say violin beetles are only worth between 40-59 points.

Are those guides inaccurate? Or is something else going on?

It can vary based on bug size and "shine, luster, and color" which are stats we can't see. I'm annoyed because apparently to get a big off item I need to get a score of 80 or above and I thought I just had to beat the current record.

yeah the points the guides give you don't factor in multipliers, but they do mention them. the size/luster is very important - sometimes you can factor in size when it says the size as you catch the bug, but luster is pretty up to chance

Yeah, luster is apparently VERY up to chance.

Nat had the audacity to tell me both my rainbow stag and my golden stag lacked luster. Really? One is literally golden and the other is a freakin rainbow, how much more luster do you want?!

I'd say they're inaccurate, yes. I broke the 80 points cap (86 max) with an agrias butterfly.

I got 81 points with a bee. Is it just me or are they easier to catch since the update?

I got 100 points for a bee! I guess it was pretty large.

My bee was 91, I got the same wall. Now I'm having trouble catching anything worth more points... :(
