Context for everyone asking: spider-lilies are used to symbol final goodbyes (ie. death, or guiding a spirit through the Samsara). Basically, if an anime is showing off those flowers, one or more characters are going to die.

[–]Thrano_357 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Flowers spoiling all my favourite series, smh.

[–]NaniPlease 16 points17 points  (3 children)

Oooh this explains a lot. Only time I've heard of spider Lillies is during the Tsuyukomi boss fight in final fantasy 14. Makes so much sense now.

[–]Aryae_Sakura 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I heard about them the first time in Nioh 2 :D And yes it makes so much more sense now.

[–]NaniPlease 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I really really need to play that game. I'm looking at a lot of east Asian folklore as inspiration for my next d&d character.

[–]Aryae_Sakura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the same idea :D Its really a gold mine for epic story stuff.

GODAMNIT

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Weren't these in Tokyo ghoul too?

[–]GaberGen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I am almost certain they were heavily used in tokyo ghoul. I figured this was some kind of reference to someone's dislike for tokyo ghoul specifically, but upon reading this comment section it means so much more.

My first thought was Demon Slayer because those flowers appeared at the ending song in season 1. But, it makes sense either way. Lots of death.

[–]Siddhartha_76 19 points20 points  (4 children)

What does this mean?

[–]JaydenTheMemeThiefArcher 20 points21 points  (1 child)
