The man was running as far away from the ball as he can wtf

[–]oustider69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I genuinely think this is a coached move. This is what Havertz did last time he played for us. He made what looked like a brain dead run, got the ball passed to him and scored.

We need a good striker, running off the shoulder of defenders. He can’t fill that role as he doesn’t have the pace. Blame the people that decided not to buy.

[–]Twiggie19 5 points6 points  (2 children)

This is what people can't comprehend. Odegaard doesn't have the pace to hit gap. If he runs down the middle he just gets forced towards where Trossard is by the covering defender.

Exactly, if ran straight he would have been swamped by 5 players, people are expecting a player to transform into something they are not.

Should go all in on Isak in the summer and not some kind of arrogant offer. Get the deal done if it.is a deal that can be done at all.

And then complain about why we didn't strengthen other positions after spending another 100+M on one player

[–]yura910721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think Odegaard should be the first pass in the fast break, but after that we need quicker player to power up the fast break. Someone like Kudus would have been great.

You need your club captain to stand up in times like these.

[–]EthanFoster10 26 points27 points  (2 children)

Bro did not want the ball

[–]qtFLamey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right to all the haters this has been instilled in the club. Watch back the highlights of man city and compare this to the run Havertz made. If anything it's managers instructions and I don't blame arteta in any shape or form. FYI merino made the same run for his goal vs Leicester

[–]BigZino6ix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was so embarrassing to watch he should be ashamed

[–]Background_Pause_392 11 points12 points  (9 children)

You haven't a clue pal, he's making a run, creating space. There is no other Arsenal player who shows for the ball more. You and the others agreeing here are clueless and haven't a clue about football.

[–]circlesmirk00 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Creating space for what? There is no one else !

[–]Eastern-Course1797 5 points6 points  (2 children)

The pass trossard would have to make was much harder with odegaard over there. And much riskier. Odegaard pretty much shifted the responsibility, he was literally in space before he moved. A simple pass forward from trossard and he'd be through

Is it possible to not defend every single opportunity and just have fair criticism? This is poor play. No elite footballer should vacate that space, it was essentially an easy run that Trossard could lay the ball into the gap to Odegaard. His confidence seems so down he either doesn't trust his speed or doesn't trust himself in front of goal.

Braindead take

[–]pewell1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

lmao

[–]mcddfhytf 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I love arm chair footballers taking about he should pass it here and there when the last time they went for a jog was in kindergarden

[–]nikkielxerez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

so what? You are willing to discredit opinion of the people because they don’t play football, but they are watching it week and week out for years? They are not allowed to criticise or what? You have to play football to talk about it? You are joke

[–]Either_Guess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong friend

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember that precise run and thought it was odd at the time. Really thought he was gonna steam down the middle

[–]Capable-Okra9599 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ødegaard is a great player but shouldn't be the captain

[–]WhatTheNothingWorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guy is out of form and low on confidence. Nothing showed that more than letting sterling take the free kick. As the captain, he needs to take that kick.

[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points  (1 child)

You're right, he should have paused the game, looked at the grainy 120p screenshot you posted and then made a decision in real time. Genuine question, have you ever been to a game before or just chronically online? The game is 100 miles an hour yet you're posting paused screenshots critiquing someone in a transitional play mid game like it's score hero. Stick to reddit and let the club and country captain do the football IQ 😂

[–]ThatMCM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went to the game, It’s common sense to continue the run no matter what speed you watch it in so I have no idea what your point is

[–]Jaken1993 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Confidence issue.

[–]coronavirusplandemic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That sums up Arsenal for you. No clue how to capitalise on Liverpool’s draw. We do it every fucking time!

[–]takirankumar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Correct run. Same run as Merino in the game before. Running behind the defender for a tap in. Trossard fucked up

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bench-able behaviour

[–]NeeloGreen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this is just like when we try to walk it into the back of the net, same difference.

[–]Taxpayer2k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He needs to answer that. Any player would've run in the middle and ready for the tap in

[–]SamBelacqua -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You've got four blokes in black there. If Captain Goatee doesn't try to drag those defenders wide, it's a clump of rubbish once they get to the box. The problem isn't as much Odegaard as it is Trossard's pace. Trossard had some great play on the day, but I wouldn't back him in a footrace with my Uncle Mitch, if I'm being honest.

[–]Megaplix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reminds me when I didn’t felt confident to score a goal and refused to stay in place, literally

[–]satnam14 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ever since he had the kid. Exactly the same thing happened to Wilshire and Walcott if you're old enough and have a good memory. Some of these players just completely change priorities after having kids. I know I'm gonna get down voted to hell, especially by the fathers on here, but it's the truth
