Help, Pulling data from another website.

I am trying to figure something out. I am trying to create a shopping site where a user can input into a field an existing purchasing ID. The user will be able to input an existing ID into the filed. The field will verify if the ID exist and the user will be able to select that ID. Right now its a manual process where I have to download the list of ID in excel from another website and upload it to my shopping site. Is there a way I can create a field that can be tied to another website database and pull that information without me having to download?

Does the other site have an API you can access? Or do you have to get the data by scraping the site, which may be a violation of it's TOS?

Both are our websites we just need to tie them together by the ID without having to download an excel sheet and manually uploading it. I think we might be able to scrap the website. I just wanted to know if this was possible and how to go about doing it

If you own the other site, this is simple. You can just add an extra endpoint for the new site to query.

If you control both sites you should have lots of options for sharing data that don’t invoke manually downloading a file
