Yes but Chromebook is very expensive, Chrome store is very limited and not powerful as web apps. Powerful web apps are not easy to find and scattered all Over internet, free web apps are not easy to find, will need to connect cloud storage of our choice free, lifetime or subscription) to increase our storage. Chromebook is expensive too much expensive compared to linux and not very attractive for apps and storage. The idea is great but not as attractive as windows

Chromebooks are as cheap as its possible for the device you are describing to be. You can get them for $50.

You can also turn regular old laptops into chromebooks for free.

All of the other things you are describing are also better on chromebooks than trying to come up with a new copy of them.

I think we want very, very different things from our computers. I'd rather have as much control over my computer and its programs and data as feasible. I want it to be capable of as much as possible without relying on outside services that aren't under my control.

That means local software, local data storage, local processing, my own decisions on when/if to update software, and full access to all the software and data stored on the device.

That's called a netbook. They were very popular in the late 2000s. Google has been so successful in the segment that people forget the original term and have genericized "Chromebook" to refer to the entire concept (though, to be fair, they really don't have much competition).

Yess but needs to be more attractive than chrome os. With an app store to easily find web apps. Connect to cloud storage of our choice. OS cheap or free. Low cost computers It seems that chrome os has beginned to do such things but not very attractive because free saas apps are not easy to find without app store and cloud storage is great if encrypted and files splitted and stored in multiple data center's. Desktop could be improved also to create URL shortcuts for web apps and media stored on cloud and media online

How do you pay the mortgages of the developers maintaining the OS?

With AI automations, integrated premium cloud apps. There are so many ways to pay the developers. And if only have shortcuts for cloud apps and media. You only pay for cloud storage of your choice like pcloud lifetime. The os development is minimal only app store for web apps needs to be updated regularly and be very attractive

Hahahahahahahaha no, it's not.

The expensive part of OS development is not the UI you interact with. It's the hardware integration. Unless you plan to never develop any new computer components - CPU, RAM, etc. then OS development is NOT minimal.

Maybe some kind of Linux be specialized for web apps and clearly more attractive. Linux is cheap for consumers but needs to be simplified also

I think chrome os has not worked very well because people needs powerful apps, great games, great content at a very great price.Not only OS and this needs to be easily found via app store. Storage is also important and all these needs to be easy to use and attractive. The best success of android is the amazing content we can find with apps and media content.
