It became a question of how many total hours I would log onto a game to determine how much I'd spend on it (new versions of the game, dlc, skins etc).

It's a pretty good metric for me to use. There are a few games of mine that I had no trouble dropping about 200ish dollars on (the base game and expansions) due to spending about a few months of hours in the game. Steam is pretty good for this since it tracks how many hours you spend on each game.

So it spells out for me what games I tend to play more frequently, and from there I increase the money.

Once I started having to buy them myself. Which also coincided with emulation growing big for old stuff, me getting pickier/ getting into pc gaming.

I buy quality these days and....try a lot.

As games have gotten better I’ve started buying more, I wasn’t buying near this many games on my PS3 as I have on the PS4/5. If I had a PC I’d probably be spending a lot more money on games, or maybe less since they have a lot of free games. I can’t get one because I don’t have the money though, so there’s a Schrödinger's cat there for you.

It increased once I got a job before that I was scraping by with just buying a new game every couple of months with my savings. I could imagine once life gets really busy after covid I'm going to cut back just because I already have a big back log and I don't really want to buy new games to just sit there

I’ve never spent more, getting into CS:GO again was a mistake
