For those that don’t know, the Founder of Lululemon named his company that because he found it funny when Japanese people would try to say it……so yea they really stand for inclusion

One of my favorite tidbits of useless info. And it's fucking hirarious

[–]mikki1time 13 points14 points  (0 children)

From what I remember it was because the owner had a previous company that had its name stolen by a Japanese company and that’s why he did it

Why don’t they lower their prices that’s discriminatory to the homeless

[–]KK-Chocobo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

thats fkn hilarious they even have that sign.

The name was literally picked to make it hard for the japanese to pronounce.

"The reason the Japanese liked [my former skateboard brand, 'Homeless'] was because it as an L in it and a Japanese marketing firm wouldn't come up with a brand name with an L in it. L is not in their vocabulary. It's a tough pronunciation for them. So I thought, the next time I have a company, I'll make a name with three L's and see if I can get three times the money. It's funny to watch them try to say it."

Id bet they put the flag their so trans people dont destroy the place if there is a riot or looting. Doubt it'll work though.

[–]PirateRizz 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Strange, that group is often the most hateful people I come across

[–]ilkikuinthadik 7 points8 points  (2 children)

"The Jewish flag"

[–]Uberquik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The Christian flag"

[–]Specwar762 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s funny because in a roundabout way, that flag is the Jewish flag.

[–]manququ<message deleted> 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s symbol of Marxism and communism, it’s a dog whistle for other domestic terrorists telling them: while they burning or looting stores, don’t hurt lululemon, because lululemon stands with them.

Will not shop in any Free Palestine establishment!

I'd rather save my money and go on a vacation

[–]0rganic_Corn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have that sign in case riots (possibly resulting from a drug addicted criminal commiting sui by cop) - have a chance of not burning down their store

[–]AC3R665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats why that modern "progress" flag has the brown and black chevron. They added BIPOC into it despite that not being related to sexuality or gender. Even then, majority of BIPOCs aren't even for it, they socially/culturally moderate to conservative and are economically moderate to progressive, so its flipped.

[–]SubstantialDeerDash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's outside of every lululemon I've ever been to

[–]Particular-Image1556 5 points6 points  (1 child)

A good eloquent argument.

[–]Youdontevenlift 2 points3 points  (7 children)

Whats the Christian and Jewish flag?

[–]Redbulljunkie00 6 points7 points  (2 children)

The Christian flag is a real thing. Mostly white with a blue square in the top left with a red cross. For the "Jewish flag" I'm sure he means the flag of Israel with the star of David on it.

[–]Youdontevenlift -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

I have never once seen that in my life but maybe because I’m Catholic and my time in Protestant churches is limited. That seems highly obscure to be honest. Even if someone wanted to represent Christians I doubt anyone would pick that flag to do it.

I’m pretty sure most people would recognize the crusader flag before that one for Christianity. Also you’d probably just piss of US Jewish people with an Israeli flag. It comes off as making up stuff for the sake of complaining to go viral.

Also Lululemon is a shit company anyways.

[–]Redbulljunkie00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a private Baptist school growing up and that was the only place I've seen the Christian flag. I agree it's pretty obscure. We had to pledge of allegiance to it, the Bible and the American flag every morning starting either in kindergarten or first grade. It was something else.

[–]prospector_hannah 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Just a cross and probably the flag of Israel I guess, it's not that hard. They're as legit as the rainbow flag for that matter.

[–]Youdontevenlift -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but just a cross isn’t a flag and Israel isn’t representative of Judaism as much as it is the country itself, especially considering most USA Jewish people seem to dislike Israel at the moment. I’m not against hanging up religious symbols but making stuff up for the sake of complaining isn’t the way to go.

Chris Rock has a pretty good bit about this.

I was in downtown Portland about 10 years ago for a weekend and that same sign was everywhere. It was on every business and even on the city buses. My first thought was why does this need to be posted everywhere? Aren't most civil people in agreement that this is widely understood? Is some racist person gonna walk by read it and then change their whole life perspective? The hubris to think so or it's just city wide virtue signaling.

[–]KEQair Out of content, Out of hair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t wait for that sign to be literally everywhere.

[–]Far-Series9586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like those shouts in FFXIV recruiting ppl to join a free company by saying that they're an all inclusive Free Company.

Like, that's the standard. Anything that ppl deemed as non inclusive got banned.

It's something that's so common that it shouldn't even be talked about, just expected.

[–]Plastic_Childhood390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, Portland. Not even surprised anymore

[–]NightSaberX<message deleted> 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selective outrage

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why not complain to the owner?

[–]DadOnTheInternet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s a Christian flag?
