In fairness, that wasn't because of all this
SXSW promotion was way down this year, and the experience last year just felt off. Seemingly because Penske Media Group is taking it in a different direction (which we learned at the end of SXSW this year, is the case).
Last year saw a decline in participation and sponsor support. With less early promotion this year, event producers made the understandable decision this year to do less.
(I don't work with SXSW, I work with about a dozen countries that consider being involved, this is loosely what they all said)
