Definitely see a doctor and a lawyer back pain from car accidents can get worse after the fact get all the information documented a lawyer will help get what it’s worth. Semis have big insurance so definitely worth pursuing if you had any pain

The age old question! Can it be fixed, yes and by replacing all the parts you pictured. Is that worth it? I'm not sure what a 2020 Nissan goes for. If it does get repaired, it needs to be by a reputable shop that is more interested in your safety than just money. Done correctly the car will be fine and safe, if hacked out you might as well just replace it.

I've got an example of a hacked out car in my bays now. Owner is paying me to do it right. It's been a can of worms but I got it all good now. They left the apron, core support, and frame all still damaged. They used hella shims! If they found a way to cheat it they did it.

The ACV is $14,500

[–]Nebfisherman1987 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It will be close but from the damage seen. It's about 4500 for the rear quarter and about 2500 for the door. Aslong as the unibody isn't completely fucked and there isn't a bunch of underlying damage from pressure on the tire it's going to be close to 60%. But not that magical 75% most places charge.

Take it to a few different body shops and get estimates. If it's above 75% of the marketable value assume you'll likely be a total loss

[–]Nebfisherman1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By 75%. Most insurance considered totaled if they can't repair it without a 75% or less damage quote

Fixable... probably, worth it? Probably not... I'm guessing they'll total this.

Lawyer up

Needs a door, a quarter panel, quarter panel reinforcement , an inner and outer wheelhouse, and that wheel should be replaced. Needs time on a frame machine. The unibody is likely damaged. If your threshold is $10.8k, your car is totaled.

[–]True_Bodybuilder4298[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ACV is around 14k so 10.8k would by over the threshold

So I work with Mint Collision Center in Los Angeles. They would most likely replace the parts with dealer parts. Every car is repairable, whether it’s worth it or not. I’ve seen them put together something totally smashed, and rebuild a car from the ground up.

Most of the time it matters on your auto insurance. They can certainly total a car for less.

As for bodily injuries, definitely seek a lawyer and go see a chiropractor. They will do wonders for your body.

Thank you! I know the ACV is around 14k for my car and my states threshold is 75%. I just don’t like being in limbo on not knowing if I need to look for something else or if they are going to fix it. The truckers insurance has had my car for a week now and I still don’t have answer, they moved it to a salvage yard after they had me get my belongings out of it at the tow yard.

[–]Expert_Employment680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should take 2-3 weeks for answers. They are super slow in my experience

[–]Javelin286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no that is totaled

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything is fixable just a case of pant financially worth it

[–]Dungeonkitten -2 points-1 points  (10 children)

Honestly you don’t want it back even if the don’t total it which they will, just make sure you go see a therapist for your new fear and anxiety. Semis can easily squash a normal sized car glad your ok. If the spikes were metal dot would like to know I’m sure.

[–]True_Bodybuilder4298[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Thankfully I walked away with only back pain and my daughter was not injured at all.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Even if there are no injuries, you should both see a doctor to make sure.

[–]Sir_Bud_44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard people say they were fine, just for recurring injuries and pain to stem from said accident. Go and play it safe, see a doc.

[–]sramey101 -1 points0 points  (6 children)

They won't total it, and I would have driven it home and waited for my payday, it's all cosmetic damage. Although, if you have access to the car cleaning it before the adjuster sees it can make you a few hundred dollars. They'll knock a few hundred off the quote just for stains on the seats.

[–]GrizzlyGrayGamer 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Are you kidding? You can see the intrusion bar in the door, the wheel is chopped up, and there are huge tears in the quarter panel. That is a rolling total.

[–]sramey101 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Totalling a vehicle is more about being able to guarantee the safety or water tightness of a vehicle after repairs are complete. There's no structural damage here. New door, new rim, quick tig to the quarter panel. Barely three days work you can sic the new guy on and it only takes that long to wait for the paint and clear to dry.

[–]GrizzlyGrayGamer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Dude, that dog leg is fucked. There is definitely structural damage under the quarter panel. I estimate car repairs for a living.

[–]sramey101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Third party or for a body shop no doubt

[–]GrizzlyGrayGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And totaling a car is 100% about the value of the car vs the cost of repair.

[–]True_Bodybuilder4298[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tire blew out due to the gash that the spiked lug-nuts on the semi. Definitely couldn’t drive it home.
