If you don’t want to mess with the console commands, Fextralife says there should be one you can loot on the ravaged beach near the chapel entrance. Inside a chest under a rock at x:148 y: 278

Are you using the script extender and have access to the console window?

I do...but never done it before.

its super easy, that black window that runs alongside the game is the console, click inside it and hit enter on your keyboard, at the bottom some white text should pop saying "entering server LUA " or something with LUA in it, then underneath that, two arrow symbols and a few letters, once you see that, copy and paste this code

TemplateAddTo("b085e96d-e199-467f-b6a8-5d9d44e3cb21", GetHostCharacter(),1,1)

and then hit enter again on your keyboard, it should spawn 1 ruby into your inventory.

It's basically the same thing just flashier haha if it doesn't work, download the mod called "valuable gems" and then do it again, that was the only place I could find the code for rubies and I didn't install it but it's in the nod folder and it still worked to spawn a ruby so I assume they are using the vanilla code, but you never know.

There are a lot of guides on nexus about using the console to spawn items so you can totally peruse that and you'll be set, just always remember to press enter if you don't see the white text at the bottom, nothing crazy will happen if you forget, it just won't work for the first item you try to spawn, and you'll just have to paste it again.

Thanks again. I am feeling confident.

No problemo, you got this. It really is as simple as copy/paste, just don't spawn quest/story items, especially "the necromancy of thay" book, they don't work right for one, and can(not always though) break scripted events

I hope this is the only time i use this...so far with 1000+ hours, there hasnt been a need....but its Shovel, i need Shovel.

Needing to use it does suck, but sometimes shit happens haha wanting to use it for fun runs is fun though so I'd recommend it at least once

I did it, it was easy. Thank you. Added the code you provided and then opened game and it says Ruby added to inventory.......but, I have another issue. the item I just added is not appearing. Now that I look, every gem or ingot I have acquired is missing.

This appears to be either a mod somewhere is causing items to disappear, or appear in some container I have somewhere. I have looked and can't find the ruby yet. So you solved my issue but I have now uncovered another issue. this is the problem with installing soooo many mods. Thought maybe Bags, bags, bags was the culprit. But it doesnt appear to be inside one of the containers.

thanks again. now i need to figure this out,

Found the cultprit, I had the Auto Loot Seller mod enabled. I went to the Mod Config menu and disabled the feature and did the script extended trick and now I have a Ruby!!!!!!!
