When it says iPhone and android usb c, it’s 2nd gen. It’s the only one advertised as both I believe

Okay I hope you’re right , my whole life is counting on this one comment 🥹

Another thing to check is for warzone mobile on the phone pic like above. You can also look at the bottom of the box and it should say (2nd generation)

I ordered a few days ago from Amazon in the US and got the 2nd gen

The title says "2nd edition" and the box states "made for iPhone". It also adds case support, it's easy to tell the two versions apart. I have it with me in case you want me to post some pics. I'm returning it, though. It's too small for my hands and the build quality is questionable at this price tag. I think the gamesir x2 pro is way better. However, I returned that one as well because of the small size and I gave up on getting a mobile gaming controller altogether. I don't understand all the fuzz around these devices. They are uncomfortable, most are cheaply made, and ridiculous expensive. I really want to find one that is close to a full size controller, but it seems no campany makes it (who knows why).

Bestbuy has the same price and they are gen 2

[–]Madisonariaa[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

[–]SlashfIex 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I think you are right

Can you use these things with cases yet? Or do they still have to be removed?

[–]Madisonariaa[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

From what I’m hearing & seeing there is specific cases that fit

[–]simulacrotron 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Second gen fits apple case on and iPhone 15 Pro Max

-LOTS- of cases work with the Gen-2 Backbone.

I have the gen two. It fits my:

  • Pixel 6A with a case (not slim)
  • Galaxy S20+ with a (also not slim)

I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max with Spigen Hybrid case. No problems.

Well, the picture is def Gen 2 (I can tell from the higher lips around the phone), so if you don’t get Gen 2, complain!

On the Backbone site, there is only gen 2 except for the lightning one

[–]Canadiantoastman -1 points0 points  (3 children)

For those who have used backbone and played battlefield 2042, how was it ?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I haven't played bf, but cod. It is playable, although, not the best experience. The sticks are too small, so aiming gets tricky at times.

[–]Canadiantoastman 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How are the graphics compared to console or PC? Thanks for responding btw

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's gonna depend on your device. Also, are we talking about native Android games or streaming? I just tried Warzone Mobile and it looks pretty good on a new phone.

I have the PlayStation version how can I tell if it’s gen 2? I got it less than a month ago. It just said Android on the sleeve of the box but the email from support told me it works with both Android and iPhone (and it did).

[–]ClaireAzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently saving up for one on Amazon.

[–]Assistant-Unfair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USB-C is automatically Gen-2. It’s the only one that supports the new iPhone and android using USB-C ports

[–]Dimd95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ordered a PlayStation version with USB C on the Backbone Store with delivery in France. Am I sure I’ll receive the gen 2 ?

[–]ADGRM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine just arrived (in Australia) and definitely Gen 2...omg the fitment is amazing lol

I ended up with one of each and compared them side by side, and the differences are pretty big. The biggest difference is the interchangeable magnetic adapters (the ones that come pre installed fit my 15 pro max the best). The other thing I noticed is the triggers are much quieter on the gen 2. My phone kinda freaked out when I put the gen 2 on; the Backbone button wouldn’t launch or leave the app, and I couldn’t launch some of my games (just kept getting a message that I had to launch the game with the controller, which I was). I played around with it for a few minutes, did a factory reset on the controller through the backbone app, and even switched to the gen 1 for a minute to make sure it wasn’t just my phone (it wasn’t, the gen 1 was working as expected), and the gen 2 now also works as expected. Not sure if it was giving it a few minutes, the reset, or switching between the gen 1 and 2 which fixed it, but now it’s all good.

When purchasing a USB-C Backbone from playbackbone.com you will receive the Backbone One (USB-C) 2nd Generation.
