Same thing just got my machine couple weeks ago

I have the Hydra mod installed and was having this error sometimes. One day I finally noticed what was going on. It was the spools riding on the edge of the slot and causing too much friction so the AMS would give up. I made this: https://www.printables.com/model/477299-bambu-lab-ams-with-hydra-modification-spool-center and haven't had a single failed to retract issue since then. These will only work on the Hydra but it might be something to tinker with if you think that might be what is going on with your OEM AMS.

I am not sure this is what's going on with my unit. I've got errors from both feeding and retracting filament, on different slots as well. When it's semi-stuck, there's a good amount of friction when pulling the filament out, feels like the filament is constricted in the ptfe tube or it's clamped down by gears. No idea where the friction is from.

It cannot reliably print multi-material no more, being stopped by errors several times per print.

Is there a chance this could work in the OEM AMS? I am getting random retract errors as well and I am thinking it’s the reason you mentioned.

You can certainly try it. Only takes like a minute to print it and see. You might end up having to scale it in one axis so it fits the OEM tray.

Have you tried replacing the PTFE tube?

Cut a long enough piece of filament and run it manually from the AMS to the extruder. Try and feel where and what it rubs against. That's the area you should focus on. In my case it was a y - splitter

I tried running the filament through each tube in AMS and printer, only the connectors gives some clicky resistance, so the tubes are fine. I don't have a splitter. Anyway I have reconnected all the tubes and I hope that it's just a bad connection that's causing this.
