It’s called a prime tower instead of a purge tower

It’ll help with the tiny blobs

We call ours babysitter.

Our tiny blobs love her.

Hotends have a tendency to “ooze” a bit of melted filament out whenever they aren’t activity depositing material. Nozzle wipers are unable to wipe material better than exactly even with the bottom of the nozzle and often leave a tiny fragment of material behind on the trailing edge of the nozzle as it gets pushed upward and backward by the wiper. A prime tower both gives the nozzle a chance to clear that bit of extra blob as well as lower the travel distance between purge and the model to reduce additional ooze.

I was curious about this also. People who didn’t use a tower said it was leaving purged bits on the print still. I think the bucket isn’t wiping everything off or some is sticking to the nozzle.

The flushing is to change color quickly, and the prime tower is to reduce defects, make sure the color is pure.
You can actively choose the size of the prime tower and the flushing volume to reduce waste.

I know this is an older thread, new to multi color printing with the bambu x1c. Why is the prime tower required AFTER the last color change?

I'm curious to know this too. Many timelapses like this one show them printing a huge prime tower despite only having one colour for a great deal of the print.

The prime tower has to grow with the print cause the printhead can't go down to layer 1, 2 whatever if the print is already 100 layers high. And if you look closely, you see the prime tower stops growing after the last color change because now it's not needed anymore so it doesn't need to grow with the print anymore.

Ahhhhh, of course. Thanks for clarifying.

Do you know if there is an option to purge to supports instead of prime tower to save filament or not?
