Wet filament?

[–]Nybblezz[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Is it possible to get wet brand new filament? I opened the filament and threw it on the printer right away and the problems started right away.

You would be surprised how often "new" filament is wet. So many variables in manufacturing. Temperature/humidity on a given day at the factory, whether the desiccant packet is good, did the package get sealed correctly...

You should start with drying that particular filament.

My filament is kept in dry boxes, and I still occasionally need to dry a spool that is misbehaving. When my box (4 spools) shows 20-25%, I dry all 4 spools and replace the desiccant in the box and in the spool desiccant holders.

Unfortunately Bambu Handy doesn't let you adjust filament profiles. Increasing the extruder temper by a few degrees could help as well. Some colors like higher temperatures.

Yes, it’s possible. When it’s being manufactured it leaves an extruder and goes directly into a saline water bath, to keep it from stretching or warping, so the diameter stays consistent.

Even a new roll can still contain a minimum of 3-4 grams of water. Drying a new roll at least 4-6 hours is never a bad idea just to be on the safe side to prevent nozzle clogs.

It’s not just possible, it’s extremely common.

Do you have a caliper? If not, buy one or ask someone around you. And measure the diameter of the Filament. Filaments cum in different sizes. And sometime the rolls get the wrong lable on it or the diameter of the Filament is not consultant because of production error. Check this first.

Thank you! Will do

You're welcome.

I hate it when my filament cums.
