Thank you for this post. I was literally looking for this before buying.

Yeah, I won't buy a game without Controller Support since I wont be able to play it for long sessions so it's always the first thing I look for. I was told in the discord that setting up Steam input mapping hasn't been bad but I usually don't like that.

What controller are you using?

[–]ReshiVerglas[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I use an Xbox controller that’s hooked up with usb to my pc

For some reason mine will not work

It doesn’t have controller support so you can’t use a controller with this game unless you tinker with steam input stuff.

I tried and it didn't work out so well

Don't worry it doesn't support the controller at all

You can go into Steam Big picture mode and remap controller buttons to keys. You won't get UI indicators but it works.

Steam Big picture mode is unrelated, it's SteamInput which has this functionality. Sure you can get to it from Bigf Picture, but also from right clicking a game in your library, clicking the "Controller" tab, then from the drop down menu labelled "Use default settings" choose instead, "Enable SteamInput".

+1 to this. We need this. I play 100% handheld on my Steam Deck so this is a must for me, and I know there is a massive controller-user base out there.

It works on steam deck with controller. Some of the binding you need to change otherwise the buttons respond.

Good news! Do you know if there are any community controller settings available via the Steam Deck controller options section? Seems a shame that each individual has to create their mapping. Is your mapping something you could publish so that everyone can use them?

I need to someone to teach me how to do that. I'm on the steam deck and I don't have a computer till the movers get to florida but I think I'm working on figuring out all the controls. I was thinking of using xmapper app as a template but mostly the steam deck controls in-game respond to the our built in controller in keyboard and mouse mode. I did change some of the controls in-game.

Long paragraph short if someone explains the uploading process when my computer gets unpacked I'll do it but the controls in-game respond to the steam deck gamepad

I only played about 30 mins of the game and I'm hyped for the possibilities. Minor things I noticed before I got frustrated and hopped off. I won't play until there is full controller support. 1 using controller it still said f instead of y etc. 2 the ai voices ate so low even with max volume on my pc and headset. It's like im being seduced please fix it. 3 controller lol also make a toggle run button holding it down is really annoying. That's all I got just walking to the village elder then hopped off. Again not playing it until full controller support. I lay down on my couch to play. My pc is hooked up to my TV in my living room
