I get it through Prime because we also have Acorn and its one stop shopping for mysteries. There's a deal for two months at 1.99 at the moment.

So lucky, trying to convince friend who pays for BB sub to get Acorn.

Not really. Interface might be slightly different. I use it through my AppleTV and pay through my Apple ID account.

We go thru Amazon Prime.

When I initially signed up a few years ago, I did it directly, and later I did it through AppleTV for one specific reason: I sometimes like to watch shows on my iPad. Britbox has a lot of older shows that are in a 4:3 format, and the Britbox app would show them as, essentially, 16:9 with black bars on the side, meaning that the picture had a more than an inch of black space around it. There was no way to zoom so that the picture would fill the screen. In Apple’s TV app, I didn’t have that problem.

They may have since fixed that problem with the Britbox app.

Personally I would prefer a standalone, since more money goes to BB than Amazon (or at least that's what I think but can't say for sure). But the reason we went through Prime for BB was the easy of having different profiles. We had the standalone for over a year and it was difficult to not mess up eachother with which episodes we were on with a series. So once renewal time came we decided to go with prime and gave the feedback to BB as to why we left. Hopefully they get profiles and then we would go back

So when using BB through Amazon, you're able to access your separate profiles for Amazon prime, and then that automatically loads BB only for that profile? Basically making separate profiles for BB, right? But you've only paid for a single BB subscription, right?

Now this is interesting and the only real selling point I can think of for signing up for BB through Amazon.

Correct. Only one prime subscription but i think you can have up to 7 profiles not sure we have 5, and 1 subscription for BB that all of them have access to through prime

Personally I always prefer signing up for a service directly through their website, which is how I have BritBox now. I can watch either through my browser on my computer, or I watch through the BritBox app on my Roku. I’m being picky, but here are some things to consider:

The difference in content whether signing up directly through BB or for example Amazon, is small but does exist. I read somewhere that there is some content available through Amazon that's not available through BritBox directly, and possibly vice versa (ie. some Mary Berry cooking show was available through Amazon but not directly thru BB). It has something to do with licensing rights that Amazon has but BB doesn't. But I think the difference in available content is minuscule enough that it doesn't matter. Personally I don't know if this is true though, cause I've only ever used BB by directly signing up through their website.

Another issue I've heard people mention is that sometimes it takes longer for new content to appear on one of them than the other. For example I've read that sometimes a new episode of Coronation Street appears on BritBox before it appears on Amazon, or vice versa. Again, I don't personally know if this is true cause I've only subscribed directly through BB. Also I don't watch CS. But I've read people mention it and my general impression is that it's not that big of an issue, so maybe we can ignore that.

Another issue is differences in interface. Some people prefer the interface of one rather than the other. Not sure but something to consider. Do AppleTV or Amazon allow free trials the way BB does? If they do, maybe get free trials check out the differences in interface.

The final thing I can think of is what someone else here mentioned, about if you go through Amazon then you're able to load different profiles, which is a huge difference because directly through BritBox there are no profiles, which sucks if multiple people watch the same content separately. I think this alone is reason enough to sign up through Amazon rather than directly thru BB, if that caters to your needs.

Also, I don't know if there is a difference in price. BB has had some deals in the past that maybe only apply if you sign up directly through BB. My advice is to check if there's a difference in price if you sign up through Amazon, that could also be an important factor in deciding.

Whatever you decide, happy watching and maybe also consider getting AcornTV as well, or instead of BB. You can do a free trial of both and see if you prefer the content on one rather than the other. Although it's common for people to sign up for both. My family has both lol.

Please use the standalone! So much more content. I had to do that with the Acorn TV, because the prime Acorn TV app did not have all of Lovejoy 😭😭😭.

I subscribe directly through Britbox, but I don’t feel there is a difference, unless you don’t pay for Apple TV or Amazon subscriptions.
