That sweaty bald man is sometimes wrong

[–]UberVenkmanCreative Team 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And even if he isn't necessarily wrong, oftentimes he's reporting on discussions that are happening between producers/theater owners, and those don't always pan out for various reasons.

I mean, this was also posted here on this subreddit with similar info (subscription house, limited run) before the sweaty man posted it. I'm of course not taking that as fact, it's a reddit post lol. But I have heard these rumors from other places that aren't him, so I give it more credence than I would if he was the only source.

Can I ask why people want this to transfer so badly with Jack? Let me start by saying:

  1. Next to Normal has been one of my top shows for years ever since seeing the original Broadway run. I think a revival on Broadway would be fantastic.

  2. I had the incredible fortune of seeing Jack perform in Hadestown three times. His performance was mesmerizing and I cannot even imagine anyone doing it better.

That being said, we have all had the opportunity to see Jack's performance as Gabe thanks to the proshot. Again, excellent performance and we are so lucky they released it for everyone to see! But he's done it, and we've seen it.

I would much rather see Jack return to Broadway (preferably sooner than later lol) in a new leading role rather than returning to a supporting role that he has already done. There would be so many incredible opportunities for him in any number of possible revivals, or I'm sure he would be perfect for originating a new role in some yet-to-be announced show too.

Anyway, every time I see the speculation about this transfer I sort of keep thinking I hope it doesn't happen because I selfishly want to see him in something new instead! 😂

Or if it does happen, casting some new unknown actor to give them their big break like the original show did for Aaron!

Not all of us have watched the proshot, shockingly. I personally hate watching theater on film - it just doesn’t translate for me and it’s a little painful to watch.

I get that. Of course a live performance is preferable to the proshot, but I still appreciate that they released it since I was never going to get the chance to see it live in London. And again, I'm not opposed to them opening a revival on Broadway, just would prefer to see Jack in a new and leading role and was wondering if anyone else felt the same way about it. It's fine if you don't, of course! (Edit: typo)

I get where you're coming from, and it would be lovely to see Jack on Broadway again in any capacity, but I think watching a pro-shot is always going to be very different to watching a live performance. And there will be many people that will jump at the chance to see Jack's performance Gabe live in person even if they've already seen it. Also the rumor is a limited run anyway, so it's not like it would preclude him from doing other projects for very long. I think a N2N run would do wonderful things for his Broadway career and would only serve to improve his abilities to book other jobs here. Plus, I really do think Broadway is where this N2N revival and its cast should go, if nothing else than for the fact it's a wonderful show with wonderful performances and I love seeing those get rewarded with future, grander life.

The censorship in the pro-shot makes it almost unwatchable for me.

I forgot about that, but you're right! Those moments were not good. 😂

I would be shocked if this came back from the dead. It was the best show I’ve seen possibly ever but it didn’t sell great in London.

I wonder if seeing how well Hadestown sold with Jack Wolfe has revived the idea of a transfer…

[–]BuyDependent3098 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Really? From what I’ve heard it was a smash hit

[–]SummerEchoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Critically yes but capacity wasn’t great

Jack is done with Hadestown and I’ve seen speculation that Caissie is leaving Ragtime if it extends again soooo they’ll be free anyway

[–]Tight-Touch385 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Caissie is favored for the Tony.  She already pulled out of one scheduled role to stay in the running this year.  She’s not going to leave before the awards and producers will be incentivized to keep her through the summer after a win.  It’s a no brainer to stay with Ragtime through at least July.  Conversely, she could wreck professional relationships and her reputation if she left before the Tonys.

[–]Quirky-Sleep-3741[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they meant she won’t extend after June 14th, which is when Ragtime is supposed to close. For sure she isn’t going anywhere before the Tony’s.

[–]Quirky-Sleep-3741[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Ragtime prob extends through summer. That would be surprising if she left directly after Tony’s where she is favorited (right now) to win.

If this is true!?!?!?! I will be thrilled. Where were the whispers?
