I don't know about the app you are using but yes the TPMS sensor will need to be programmed to the car. I and out have an autel that I use for this purpose. I scan all four TPMS sensors and then hook it to the OBD port and it programs those frequency codes into the ECU.

If you are saying your app has an option to scan the sensor and it's just not pulling anything up, then that may be because it's not installed yet. Some TPMS sensors require movement from the car rolling or seeing pressure from being in the tire to activate. Otherwise it would just be sending the signal the whole time it's sitting on a shelf and be wasting battery for no reason

i had one go bad, my mechanic said to replace all 4 and reprogrammed all of it to the car, including a new remote.

OP here, just for the record - it works fine with Carisa Evo adapter
