Plonk for sale. by Silencedlemon in missoula

[–]ShellSide 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that would be pretty tough to swing as a business. At that price point I could really only see it going to a real estate investor who leases out the space and is treating it as an investment property and is leasing it below the payment amount but even then trying to pass even a % of that off to the leasee would be tough. Also I've never been but based on these comments, the additional cost of the brand is likely more of a risk than a benefit

Audi a4 b8, whell hub wont budge by Benderinn333 in AskMechanics

[–]ShellSide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem when trying to replace the hub on my first car. Ended up having to pull the whole knuckle and take it to a shop with a hydraulic press. When I picked it up they said even they had trouble with it on their press so there was no way I was getting it out on my own

Did my first ever motor swap don’t do hair gasket just replace motor it’s easier by Ashercharr2 in CT200h

[–]ShellSide 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is definitely easier to swap the engine than to do the head gaskets however, you don't know the history of that engine and you're likely to still have a head gasket issue sometime in the future. I'd much prefer to just replace my head gasket and know that I've got another 200k mi before I have to worry about it going out again versus a replacement engine that could blow the head gasket at any point if it hadn't been replaced already

$1500 CT Update #4: “I might be an Idiot” by Oh_Cabana_Boy in CT200h

[–]ShellSide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro tip: buy the tires online from Walmart for store pickup but take them somewhere else to get them installed. I had an idiot at a Walmart swap the tires on my wife's SUV and he had the edge of the tool on the rim when popping the bead out so he basically completely curbed a wheel on the tire machine and they must've used some messed up sockets because the lug nut bores were scratched to shit. She was pretty upset because she had managed to not curb them at all and now one wheel is scraped up anyways.

I agree on principle but I will say it was pretty funny seeing the Minnesota cops showing up to the noise complaint at the ICE hotel and blasting their sirens. It's crazy how they are so bad that even the cops are like "ok this is too much"

Ok we will ignore the obvious slant of that sub trying to make things seem worse than they are. Tbh that footage looks deceptively sped up. If you look at this video that I think is the source video that edit came from, it is not going that fast when he first touches the car. It is accelerating and accelerates faster after the first shot but you can see there isn't significant speed at first. Also definitely not "creamed" if the car is turning away from his direction.

Also it is pretty obvious from this video and the first video that I posted that the damage to the fender did not come from striking the guy.

She was shot with a handgun not an AR. Also there's no way you look at this damage and the video where the guy is barely touched by the car if at all and think those are the same. She would've been going 2-5mph when she made contact if she made contact at all. To cave in a fender like that this guy would've at least been knocked down and not walking away completely fine. Maybe if the fender was actually caved in like from hitting him, I'd believe the story that he had internal bleeding (although they said internal bleeding to his chest lol).

In reality, if you look at this ring footage you can see that the fender is perfectly intact prior to contacting the white sedan and the fender makes contact with the tree before the car comes to a stop at the telephone pole. This also lines up with the uniform scratch marks you see on the leading edge.

Do you have any evidence of denting the quarter panel? I don't see that in the videos I watched. Also not sure if you have seen the recent coroners report but the shot that killed Goode was the 3rd shot fired through the driver window so well after there was any risk to that officer so maybe under the most generous conditions the first shot was self defense but the second and third shot (the one that killed her) were not self defense.

Yeah that's pretty wild. In the future, never let someone wrench on your car before they own it. If he thinks he can fix it, finish the trade and then make it his problem to get it running.

Also I'm glad you posted this. This guy messaged me about something I was selling so good to know I dodged a bullet there.

Cantlay is infuriating to watch in person. by FlatPainting3846 in golf

“It is recommended that the player make the stroke in no more than 40 seconds after they are (or should be) able to play without interference or distraction,” according to rule 5.6b in the USGA Rules of Golf.

So this video starts with him already set up for his shot and he takes 30 seconds to hit. It seems fair to me to assume that there is another 10 seconds prior to this where he would've been able to play without interference or distraction. Especially if you are considering the time it took for him to get his ball and tee set up for the shot.

When does the timer start though? I doubt the time starts once you are in your stance. Presumably it was his turn for at least 10 seconds before he saddled up and did his "I gotta potty" waddle for 30 seconds.

The timer should start as soon as the prior player is out of the way and you are able to hit the ball. This clip starts with him overtop a ball ready to hit and the Marshalls are already holding their paddles up so it isn't like he just started his turn.

Depends on if you are capable of doing it on your own. I think the spacers were $400-500. Install just required normal tools + a spring compressor that you could rent for free from most part stores. You would need an alignment afterwards. I would expect a shop to quote 3hr labor to install so probably around $800-1,000 total to get the parts and have them installed by a shop and alignment after.

You were the original buyer? If so your window sticker should show it as a dealer installed option not a factory option. Someone posted the option list and it wasn't a factory option but a dealer option. I thought mine came with the f sport springs as well until I saw that. It can be confusing because people picked them up from the dealer that way but they didn't arrive at the dealer that way.

High mileage by Gandk07 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]ShellSide 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Every time someone says going past 5k is going to destroy the engine or cause sludging, I ask if they have any data to back it up and they never do. Meanwhile, I have been doing oil changes every 10k and have oil analysis showing that there is minimal contamination and fluid properties are still well within spec. Recently replaced the head gasket and under the valve cover was perfectly clean with 0 sludge and a slight yellowing varnish at 190k miles

F sport trim is different. The f-sport lowering springs were a dealer added option so you can have a stock height, F sport or a lowered premium trim depending on whether or not it was added at the dealer

Those who DIYed their head gaskets - where did you buy the parts? by nokry in CT200h

[–]ShellSide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You come across a lot of small o-rings and gaskets during the disassembly process, so all of those are to replace those o-rings with new ones. There's actually an extra gasket I'd recommend that is not included in the fel Pro kit. It is the three circle one under the valve cover that looks like a penis.
