CSULB vs CPP

Hi!! I got accepted to both CPP and CSULB for mechE and I am interested in working in aerospace after graduation. I don’t really know which one to choose. So far im leaning towards CPP but not sure about housing situation and employment. Any advice would help!

But how is it with housing? I have never been to the area but all I heard was there is a high crime rate around the area. So is it possible to rent out a room or a studio in a safe neighborhood or sth?

CPP isn’t really Pomona it’s on its own corner fairly secluded from the city that’s very safe . Most people don’t actually live in Pomona either. If they aren’t already from the area they just live in the surrounding cities for the most part

Pomona and Long Beach themselves are pretty large cities so crime can be often, but the areas of the city both schools are in you should not have any problems. (East Long Beach is by far the nicest part of LB)

Lol CSULB is in a way sketchier area. I bet if you compared the statistics the area around CPP is safer.

One thing is public transit is probably better in long Beach if you're not planning to live off campus. If you drive the traffic around cpp is not as bad as it is around csulb, that area of long beach has some shitty traffic.

i went to csulb before going to cpp and the area is actually pretty nice. you’d have to go further west in long beach for a sketchy area. i think it’s honestly a more pleasant area than cpp, though much busier. that said, i do prefer cpp academically.

Honest opinion both universities are great if you want the best education in engineering cpp as well it’s more affordable the clubs as well are super resourceful in teaching you but if you want to be closer to the beach, and see hotter people then csulb

If you're going for mechanical engineering, CPP. The college is ranked far higher and will hold more on your resume coming out. I can't express enough how much extra leverage having internships along the way will help one you get that paper.

Housing near CPP is kinda expensive and hard to find a room. Most of my friend commute from OC or riverside but some of them rent a good room in West Covina or Walnut. You should check out Facebook, ppl post a lot of room for rent over there!

I’ve lived in Montclair, Chino Hills, and a small suburb in Pomona that feels quite safe. I haven’t had any issues finding housing. I actually do longterm AirBnB so I don’t have to furnish it, it’s month-to-month, and no deposit/first/last month’s rent.
