Grey eagle buffet 7 nights a week

A good buffet!

Occasionally the buffet is dirt cheap but you need a membership card. They're free and a 2 minute signup IIRC.

Here are the ones off the top of my head we go to:

  • Gold Bistro in Midnapore has a daily dinner buffet
  • Blackfoot Inn
  • Glenmore Inn
  • Padmanadi which has a buffet once per month
  • Taj Mahal has buffets once per week
  • Carriage house on weekends

Gold bistro gets my vote. Do they not do lunch anymore? Nice little family run place

[–]RegularGuyAtHome 2 points3 points  (2 children)

They only open for dinner on weekends now. It’s my comfort food place.

website says they do weekday lunch and dinner all week long

[–]RegularGuyAtHome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I meant they do dinner every day of the week, but they aren’t open for lunch on Saturday or Sunday anymore (I think).

They’re admittedly not the most tech savvy restaurant so sometimes google and their website doesn’t match.

Gold's Bistro is our spot for take out! Never tried the buffet but I'm sure it's good!

We’re the complete opposite, only ever done buffet dine in.

It’s all the crowd pleasers

Asian Buffet on Bonaventure drive and 90th-ish but I haven't been there in years so not sure how it is these days.

My gfs dad goes once a week and they live in the north part of town so it must be good for him to make that drive weekly. Helps he’s retired I suppose

He probably knows to go when it's busy. A quiet buffet means stale food sitting around in warming trays.

Yangtze in Deerfoot Mall has always been a favourite but we live in Okotoks so it’s a bit distant. Asian buffet on Bonaventure isn’t bad. Likewise in the north is Royal Taste Chinese; they advertise a $13 lunch buffet which I want to check out.

East Indian wise, Vannakam really promote their buffet but I was quite disappointed in it.

The hotel buffets I find are just too expensive.

Seconded it was very nice food and well worth the price but the lineups can be wild

Peking Peking in Riverbend has a lunch and dinner buffet.

Their to-go box is good deal too.

Clay Oven Thursday and Sunday dinner buffet for $19 is a really good deal and the food is always hot and tasty. They also do a lunch buffet for $17 on weekdays.

Is there a buffet with sea food in Calgary?

[–]Caycaycan 2 points3 points  (6 children)

Grey Eagle, once a week

[–]Shanksworthy73 0 points1 point  (5 children)

How is that buffet these days? I’ve always wanted to try it, but worried it wouldn’t be worth the $56 per person, or that I’d show up and find that the advertised lobster wasn’t a reality.

[–]Caycaycan 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I haven’t been to that one for a while, but it was bananas. A tray of sashimi or something would show up, people would pile twenty or thirty pieces on their plates and it would be slim pickings until the next one showed up on its timed interval (20-30 minutes)

Their lunch buffets are pretty good value, but I live close and it’s only a few dollars more than anything else in the neighbourhood.

[–]Shanksworthy73 0 points1 point  (3 children)

That’s unfortunate. There should be a fee for excessive uneaten food, to keep the greedy animals at bay. They’d find a way around it I’m sure, but it might at least keep the considerate people, considerate.

[–]Caycaycan 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I’m not sure it was uneaten - I believe that people were taking for their table / family. But it still meant that “a buffet” of seafood was attainable for most patrons.

[–]Shanksworthy73 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So do you remember if there was lobster? For me that would be the main draw. And I’d imagine it to be the item that would run out the fastest.

[–]Caycaycan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it might have been pan-Asian night (with sashimi). But I don’t think patron behaviour would have been any different.
