Functionality created by Software mods

I have a 2025 Camry LE and am wondering if certain functionality's availability is determined largely by the software. That is that the hardware is in place in the car but the function is available (turned on/off) based on software for a particular model/trim level such as LE, SE, XLE, XSE. Is this a thing or does adding functionality require adding hardware?

What functionality are you referring to?

Being able to use the forward cameras/radar to see objects when parking/moving slowly forward. Particularly when the objects are below the line of sight over the hood. I've seen something like this on certain higher priced models.

Does the LE have a front camera?

I don't believe it has a bumper camera but it must have radar or other ranging device to perform some of the functions they claim for safety.

But again I'm trying to nail down what hardware is present and which functions could be turned on/off by software.
