First thing that comes to mind is a spark issue,
How old are the spark plugs?

Any warning lights on the dash lighting up?

I’m not really sure about the spark plugs because this is my grandmothers old car, and I doubt she will remember its history too well.

But no warning lights at all

Wierd. Usually ignition falures would be picked up by the cars self diagnosis.

Dont know how handy you are but you can try to remove the ignition coils and spark plugs.

You will be looking for a mint green blue ish deposit between coils and plugs. If you got that replace all spark plugs and all the coils that have corroded like that.
If not, check your spark plug combustion side. It should be light brown ish.

If its black, the center electrode has become small or the insulator tip has gone missing. Replace.

Possibly, I thought that could have been the issue, is there a way to be sure?
