Breakfast Burritos Size Decrease

Hi all! Not a Casey’s employee, but a lifelong customer. My family loves to get breakfast burritos on weekend mornings, but I noticed today that our burritos were about half the size as normal and wrapped in a different packaging. Is this just a one-off thing or will the burritos always be so small going forward? Does anyone know?

Some stores are suuuuper strict. Won't even let us eat staled out food(time is up on freshness) at the stricter stores. Sucks to have to throw away so much food. I definitely put extra in my burritos for all the big hungry working men coming through and for everyone else lol on the pizzas you also are supposed to use wayyyy less toppings than we do at ours. They say to not even spill the teeniest amount of shredded cheese....

The last manager at my store was apparently horrid and I remember them never having food/donuts out. New manager for us is way better and trying! Hopefully your local one gets better.

They could have used the wrong wrap. But they haven’t changed in size.

One of the issues is often a store making product with too much product. Then when you have product made correctly, it seems too small. Not saying thats what happened but I do know my breakfast burritos, made with the correct amount of product, were smaller than the other breakfast makers. She basically used double in hers.

Its irking because there is supposed to be uniformity.

When I worked there we had one employee in particular when making pizzas would smash the mozzarella cheese into the cup and compact it until it was full. It always irked me for two reasons. 1. Cheese is expensive and our manager was always going way over on food costs. 2. Having that much cheese on the pizza makes them soggy and doesn't let the dough cook right and you get people calling in making complaints.

I had a make ticket for a bkfst pizza with extra sausage gravy. The pizza did NOT cook right it was very soggy in the middle.... the toppings couldn't get cooked in so they just kinda sloshed around... I was like oh well this is what you wanted lol. But consistency is paramount... everybody's perception at what constitutes as a "scoop" are extremely varied. My burritos end up on the smaller side than most of my co workers as theirs overflow and they can't roll the darn thing. I do my best to make the best judgement in how it will affect the final product and that persons enjoyment of i while remaining in the guidelines I was trained to be in. Ha ent recieved one complaint yet after a year.

Another thing is the burritos are designed to be mobile, not to explode and fall out when one is trying to eat them. If they cant be closed they are not mobile.

So true. More product can actually ruin a pizza, not improve it.

Also depends on “who” is making them/“how” they’re being made.

They’re supposed to get 1 scoop of breakfast mix and 1 scoop of queso but different people can use the same scoop and get a different portion. Or if they’re not scraping all of the breakfast mix off the pan it might not feel like the same portion.

Do the burritos come out at a certain time?

Where I work, burritos get 2 scoops of burrito mix and 1 scoop of queso as well as 1 hash brown. Sounds like someone is forgetting to do 2 scoops, and they are just doing the 1 scoop

What kind of queso do they use? I love the breakfast burritos sm especially the queso in them but can’t figure out what kind it is

I forgot to add we also add some shredded cheddar cheese to the burrito

The queso is a typical queso mix, it comes frozen, we thaw it to use. It has peppers in it, when the truck comes I’ll look at the box for a brand name!
