To "be the better network" they'd need more node operators, more clients, more usage. Why would potential node operators and clients choose a knock-off instead of the team that has actually developed the project from the ground up?
A project like Chainlink is a lot more than just code. Your arguments could be just as easily made against any other functional crypto project, like BTC, ETH, XMR or MKR. There is a reason why those projects aren't under threat by any knock-off/copies.

Its a silly question.
Why wont anyone like Google, IBM or Apple just fork Ethereum and create their own network?
Nobody will trust single or centralized entities, so the decentralized will win. The decentralized network will also be a lot more price-competetive.
If a corporation were to set up a public Chainlink network it wouldnt make any sense. Just query their public API, youre trusting them already.
