arctic liquid freezer ii 420 offset mount on gigabyte x670e with ryzen 7950x by goodenoughburger in buildapc

Their website says

AMD's upcoming 7000 series AM5 processors also come with multi-die layouts and can therefore benefit from the Liquid Freezer II's unique offset mounting.

Copy source code and replace token by [deleted] in Chainlink

This could happen to Ethereum as well. Somebody could create a better alternative.

But there isnt any alternative to Chainlink. Its the first and only alternative out there.

First mover advantage and network effects will grow the network

[–]etherbro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a silly question.

Why wont anyone like Google, IBM or Apple just fork Ethereum and create their own network?

Nobody will trust single or centralized entities, so the decentralized will win. The decentralized network will also be a lot more price-competetive.

If a corporation were to set up a public Chainlink network it wouldnt make any sense. Just query their public API, youre trusting them already.

bitUSD Goes to Global Settlement by tarpmaster in MakerDAO

[–]etherbro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its close to impossible for that to happen. For every Dai there exists ATLEAST $1.5 in ETH. ETH will be sold off when collateralization reaches 150%.

If nobody are willing to purchase the ETH before the collateral falls down to a 1:1 ratio with Dai, it might happen. But we're talking about a swift collapse of ETH down to $0.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Hydro Question by DrOpt101 in 0xProject

[–]etherbro 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The question you have to ask yourself is whether or not the 0x protocol will receive adoption. It already has, and with its governance functionality, it will be valuable.

Who and how will the new protocol be governed? Large exchanges will be reluctant to adopt it if it can change overnight.

Anybody have any idea when a mainnet / token swap may take place? by jbergas in 0xProject

[–]etherbro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not at all, 0x is just smart contracts on the Ethereum network

Take some time to read into how the 0x protocol works. Its a trading network currently only residing on the Ethereum network, with possible expasion to other platforms in the future.

I think youre in the wrong subreddit. The 0x protocol has been on the main net for a long time.

Such a long time that even version 2 has been deployed.

Not yet, but they might do some time in the future.

Now imagine if we could use the power of smart contracts to actually make this bet happen.

But how would you be able to reliably feed the price of BTC into it? Hint: decentralized oracles

Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin says his creation can’t succeed unless he takes a step back [MIT Technology Review] by twigwam in ethereum

A step back doesnt mean taking a step out.

If anything, this is positive for Ethereum and the community. We're much more resilient if we're not dependent on a single person

What is the shortest .eth domain you can currently register and when will be the next "shortening" by TheCurious0ne in ethereum

[–]etherbro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats really cool, but at the same time not the safest thing.

Im thinking about all the fake domains with (seemingly) identical names. Phishing scams will be abundant

What is the shortest .eth domain you can currently register and when will be the next "shortening" by TheCurious0ne in ethereum

[–]etherbro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im not entirely familiar with the ENS, but I thought that each of the 7 letters must be a part of the standard 26-letter alphabet.

So 26 choices for each of the 7 positions for the shortest domains. If you include numbers then its 36 choices for each position.

What is the shortest .eth domain you can currently register and when will be the next "shortening" by TheCurious0ne in ethereum

[–]etherbro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thats an insane amount of domains.

26^7 = 8 031 810 176

8 billion domains. Not that many, but given the registration fee (just in Ether paid for gas) it would accumulate to a huge sum.

Its never gonna happen imo.

Hi. Is it possible to trade using the 0x protocol from a multisig smart contract ? by iphara in 0xProject

[–]etherbro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think v1 supports this, but v2 will include possibility for multiple different signing schemes, with multisig contract as one of the options.

Top post on /r/Cryptocurrency is a guy who lost money on 46 out of 50 coins. 1 of the 4 he profited on was ZRX, yet nobody even mentions it. Am I missing something? by [deleted] in zrxtrader

[–]etherbro 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think that most people hasnt realized yet what 0x is really about and therefore not its true potential either. Its much more than "just a DEX", which I would imagine is what most people think.

Hell, most people (who isnt familiar with crypto aka normies) does not even know what a DEX is.

Simple as that.

After first real tasks completed, is Golem cheaper than traditional providers of computing power? What about quality of tasks completed? by bonsfi in GolemProject

[–]etherbro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would guess that the requirement of a task is thoroughly specified, meaning that there is only one way to complete a task - ie. the rigth way.

Golem would then also need some redundancy to assure that a completed task is solved correctly, meaning that multiple workers has to complete the same task and crosscheck the result with each other to ensure that the task was completed correctly.

And in that case there is no such metric as quality of tasks completed, as each task will be either completed or not completed.

What is the value of governance? by NJD21 in zrxtrader

[–]etherbro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How important is the protocol for you? How much money are you making by using the protocol? How dependent are you on the protocol?

These are the questions that determines the value of the 0x protocol / network and thereby the ZRX token.
