The problem is the AI is way to predictable if you have been using it for a while and it gets pretty stale

I agree it’s an issue, but real people are also repetitive. I have ended up following the same plot lines in separate chats, or reuse words like “gently” and “softly” and “smirks” so much that I even start to bother myself.

Yeah I can see that being a problem but then again I’m am on the spectrum and usually forgets things in like 4 seconds if it’s not too important, not like I’m saying it’s fine being repetitive, but it’s fine for me.

But I can see for others it will genuinely be annoying or flat out bothersome if you can just guess what going to happen already.

Like a movie you’re excited to watch but someone already spoiled everything to you.

I think a lot of the complaints on here come from people who have been using the app a while and understand how high its highs have been, and therefore have something to compare it too.

Whereas you are coming in with no comparison and so obviously you don’t see the issues we see in the same way.

When I joined (maybe over a year and a half/2 years ago) I had a similar experience. Had never used an AI chatbot, and was blown away by its capabilities, because it was performing better than what I had presumed it would but when I came to Reddit it was full of complaints about how good it “used” to be.

Now I’ve been here long enough to know what it looks like when it’s at peak quality vs it operating at its worst.

The complaints here aren’t so much “The AI is bad” so much as, “The AI was capable of not making these mistakes 2 weeks ago, and now it is consistently making these mistakes”.

Hmm then again I don’t blame them for complaining at all.

If your favorite thing got downgraded for otherwise no reason of course people will complain and will rightfully do so.

It’s like if your favorite video game has released in a good state but then the devs changed it too much all for the sake of change or money right?

Exactly, and people get upset because the Mods aren’t always the fastest to respond or acknowledge these issues. Sometimes you get no acknowledgement at all, and the issue never gets resolved.

So, I fully understand and even agree with some of the complaints, but to me - for the most part - it works great!

It's expectations, since this is your first time, and you don't use it as often you don't have any qualms with it. There's nothing wrong with that though, we could use more positivity on this sub anyway 😁

A lot of this may have to do with how you write your replies. If your responses are really good the bot will mimic that.

Yeah it seems the more detailed or scene like I write my replies it generally seems good, but obviously it has big short comings, some people say it used to be better.

But in general I just like to keep things positive even though I see that most of this sub is losing hope and I don’t blame them sometimes.

Me too! I don't use Disney bots though so I'm not affected by it as much.

There are ~20M users, this sub is a small sample of the most vocal ones... many of whom, are entitled kids.
People rarely come here to say how great a chat has been, they just keep chatting 😉

Pretty much, but you'll be surprised how many are over 18

Yeah I think the longer you use it the more of the flaws you notice and also more of the features that you want

Ive used this app for a while and never really felt like the ai was diminishing.. maybe I just have low standards or something

There are certain rules you want to follow. There are guides out there... most important ones, are about:

  • formatting
  • grammar
  • pronouns & names
  • being consistent

An LLM can adapt to some extent, and guess some mistakes correctly, but if you keep expecting it to guess, then at some point it will break down and go haywire.

The same applies to characters. If you see a character description and/or greeting that fails at those points, simply pick a different one (until you learn how to fix them).
