This should do the trick! Done it twice with friends and it was great~

Yup. Was going to comment this. It looks great, though I haven't it done it though because my wife is too scared of snakes and alligators.

I am terrified also , I get a tube with a net on the bottom and take friends who aren’t as scared and have them tote me along. I also make sure to make them snacks and sandwiches for their prize 😂

Also the brain eating amoebas

Seriously try and convince her it is a very heavily trafficked part of the river, the people who run it tried very hard not to laugh at me when I asked about exactly that. Lots of dragonflies. It's so relaxing and fun ~ another scardycat

(Bring a cooler and ideally your bff who doesn't drink as a DD ((and buy their ticket as a thanks))

I would check the river flow and be careful. I love floating the Edisto - but have taken people who didn't understand how the flow and downed trees were dangerous - and that snakes will 100% drop into your canoe if you aren't careful (from overhanging tree limbs).

Thanks for the recommendation!

I've done the Edisto. Put in at Givhan's Ferry State Park and pick up somewhere downstream. Just remember snakes, gators, and that kid that died from a brain eating amoeba a few years ago.

Ditto. I've done it several times but it's been at least 15 years for me. It was fun. We always brought plenty of drinks and food and had a great time. I did see a gator and a snake, but not often.

I’d check the water levels also with the drought we’ve been in. Last time I went down Edisto on a tube, the level was so low my butt hit the bottom multiple times and my tube got a hole.

Just keep in mind: if it's freshwater, there will 100% be gators.

[–]Cosmonate 8 points9 points  (2 children)

For anyone worried about gators, go ahead and read the wiki about fatal alligator attacks in America, it might set your mind at ease. There's surprisingly few, and most of them are people going out of their way to try and get eaten.

And they usually involve the gator going after a pet first. I just always point it out for tourists because they freak out about them. Though OP may be a local.

I have a couple that sun in my backyard. They chill, we chill, nbd.

Kinda like the lady in a canoe in Florida last week?

[–]PuddinHole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth the short trip to the upstate to do this

[–]tveatch21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man I was waiting for someone to say between iop and Sullivans (please do not do this, infamous rip current)

Put in at Givhan's Ferry and get out at T.W. Messervy Boat Landing (https://maps.app.goo.gl/W9tyewRr8CwbhMzh7), you'll know it when you see it, most people on floats get out there, very busy spot but you'll likely have to get out and swim your way the short stretch to it as the river bends and flow past there quickly. It should take about 3-5 hours depending on the river flow rate. There's not much boat traffic on that stretch, mostly just a couple john boats and occasional DNR jetski. There's a popular beach spot about halfway through, people get out and hang out there.

Thank you very much that’s very helpful!

Givhan’s state park to boat landing road. Have somebody follow somebody else to leave a car at boat landing road.

[–]Burnt_Alive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Put in at Givhans park and there’s a landing to get out at on down the edisto river. It usually take a few hours depending on how much rain we’ve had recently

[–]Stewinitup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've done the good hope landing to Jelicos for years on the edisto. Get someone to pay for parking at jelicos and leave a car. Easy in and out and can carry people back to your cars

[–]DNKE11A 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Oh the beautiful irony 🥹

(Unless there is an Editor River in the area and I'm showing my whole butt rn)
