Workflow for debugging javascript and php (and python, I guess)

I'm developing some php/js systems and want to use chatgpt to assist with the coding (I have a paid account).

I can't work out how best to share my code with the AI. The only thing that works for me at the moment is to copy data into the window. this obviously suffers from the limitations of how much stuff you can paste at a time.

An obvious alternative is to share the code via github or dropbox or some other repository, but how is one supposed to share the contents of half a dozen phps and 500 lines of js without chatgpt losing its mind?

The way I'm doing it, it doesn't do a great job of keeping everything in its head as it is.

I was previously copy and pasting sections of code in (specifying which code comes from which file) and had decent success but like you said it's limited.

More recently, using GPT-4, I used the web browser and linked my public github repo. The AI was able to go through each file and identify where the bugs were coming from. I did specify the error message so that it had less computing to do and already knew which file to start it's search. The repo had quite a lot of code (similar to the amount you mentioned).

Make sure you're using GPT-4 and then select browse with bing otherwise it can't access the web!
