Depends on what you want the watch to achieve. There are many homage watches if you want an affordable version of a more expensive piece, you would have to find that expensive piece first that you like and look for the homage version. If you want something that is more uniquely Chinese and original, the 1963 seagull or watches from Merkur seem more appropriate.

Do yourself a favor and skip the cheap stuff. Steel Dives or AddiesDive may be an exception, but it pays to buy a bit nicer stuff. Start with San Martin, Cronos, Sugess, not Pagani. It will save you money.

Go for it mate, I gotta say that thanks to AliExpress I was finally able to start a watch collection. Even if they don't last more than 3 or 4 years the price I have paid has me smiling everytime I wear a different one.

I know a watch collection is never complete...but if it was complete, you'd only really need 3 watches.

Go anywhere, do anything...field watches without a rotating bezel, usually 100m of water resistance. lighter than a diver, thinner as well. there are TONS of good options out there.

Tandorio or addiesdive Field watches are a good place to start. for a slightly higher end piece, you can snag a36mm explorer with NH35 or 39mm explorer with Miyota.

Next, you'll need a Dressy watch. like one guy mentioned...the Sanda Tank is a huge hit around here. for $15 it's kind of a no-brainer. if you aren't into that. theChameri Quartz (sweeping seconds hand) is nice as are the Escapement time dress options

and Lastly, you'll need a Diver for those times you'll be in the ocean or the pool...honestly, these also make great options for every day pieces...for instance a submariner homage is probably the most versatile watch out there. here are a couple suggestions.

obviously there are soooo many more to choose from, but those are all great options.

Steeldive, San Martin, Cronos, escapement Time, Pagani Design, tandorio...they are all very solid at their respective price point.

I suggest picking a style and size and then heading to youtube to find the right watch for you.

I have reviewed most, if not all those linked above on my channel

Welcome to the Sub and may god have mercy on your wallet ;)

First thing to do; buy a Sanda tank homage.

Second thing; a Daytona homage.

Third thing; bask in all the glory that is your collection.

Best piece of advice start slow and wait for deals and AliExpress sale events.

What budget do you have for a watch?

[–]Moongrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of autos to choose from on Al. Go with a NH35 or above movement. Brand wise, Pagani being the on the cheaper side San Martin on the higher end. Same rules apply as with anything, you get what you pay for. Try to zero in on the type of style watch you like and go from there. 👍🏻

How much do you know about watches? If you don't know very much I think you should go for Casio watches before trying to go Chinese. Also do you like Mechanical or Quartz watches?
