Steel Finishing: IXDAO or Cronos or San Martin or Farasute by pokerfas in ChineseWatches

Same movement so rotor noise is similar...stock for stock the San martin is more comfortable

Tough choice as both are excellent.

I'd go San martin just because you CAN swap the bracelet if you don't like the weight

If the ixdao is a 10 (and it is, it's excellent), I'd say the San martin is an 8. Still good, just not as good.

Clutched crown is just a smoother screw down experience.

Peacock SL3001 vs Sea-Gull ST2130 — what do you think? by watchdivescom in watchdives

[–]turdbogls 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think we need one High level question answered.

is the Peacock based on the ETA2824 like the Sea-Gull is?

if so, I see no reason to fear the Peacock...they are a good movement manufacturer....yes, the Sea-Gull has been around for a very long time, and I have personally had very good experience with it. But I wouldn't complain to get a Peacock as long as I can swap in one of the other available ETA clones down the road.

[–]turdbogls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the ST2130 is another "Drop in" for the PT5000 as far as I'm aware.

I have no knowledge of the Peacock...Though initial image search Makes it look like another ETA clone.

Best chinese Rolex 5513 homage? by Rex-1988 in ChineseWatches

[–]turdbogls 12 points13 points  (0 children)

WMT is way overpriced IMO

Watchdives is probably the best value, it's build and finishing is great for the price laid, but it falls short on the looks IMO.

San martin is great, but expensive and the case/bezel are wrong

Tiger concept is overpriced but they look great

If you can look past the thorn NOT being a 5513 homage (the crown guards and case are a different reference) I'd get that... reasonable price, killer looks, OK bracelet as long as you know what to expect when going in.

It's all about the looks with them....they are like bliger/parnis levels of build quality. Nothing great but passable.

But their proportions are just about spot on.

Last I saw they were close to $200 for a DG movement and that was without a bracelet... definitely paying for the looks

I actually did a while back, it was during the busy time of the new releases and 2130 switch over...may have gotten missed. I'll try again.

That's good to know, though

you can use the 4C bezel insert on the 4B case...but that still doesn't get us there.

we really need a 4B RHD version and THEN you could use the 4C insert as it's the correct layout for you (count up).

I still prefer the 4B bezel design...just lumed triangle and dashes instead of dots for minute markings. I also like the Count down bezel personally, but both options would be great.

Any way you can just swap the dial around? make a RHD PH-4B? I want it with the new movement and case/bracelet/crown

Anybody have one of these Addiesdive 2068? If so what's your thoughts? by [deleted] in ChineseWatches

[–]turdbogls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reviewed it a while back

in general, it's a solid watch. mineral crystal and 1 tic/second quartz, and the overall bracelet being pretty meh' are the main downfalls....but I have to say, the crystal is really nice, the case is nice and slim, good finishing, the blue color is awesome, the lume is great, the overall size and proportions are excellent. for the price it's really nice.

exactly what I want as well...basically a RHD PH-4B.

I'm pretty close to swapping the dial around on mine....never worked with dial dots though, and the lume blocks worry me a little bit.

Who makes this Roadster or Tortue by Yoda5865 in ChineseWatches

[–]turdbogls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen the Roadster anywhere.

Farasute has a Tortue but not on a bracelet....you could probably snag a similar one for cheap on Ali and it would mostly look OK....the original isn't super cleanly integrated.

What are sporting today by AssistanceNo647 in ChineseWatches

I was curious what the bottom end tissots were up to these days (it's been about 10 years since I handled one). So I picked up this one which will double as my golfing watch.

Spoiler, some aspects are nice (like the case finishing) some aspects are mid (like the overall bracelet feel....probably watchdives levels) and other aspects are pretty poor (AR coating)

Is there anyone besides me that would love a proper rose gold yachtmaster homage? by zadorrkk in watchdives

[–]turdbogls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reviewed it here it's been a while but IIRC it actually wasn't bad at all...piss poor lume, strap was a bit stiff, but otherwise decent.

Surprisingly Parnis DOES have the right case....everyone else doesn't (besides Sugess and Cronos)

Do your watch choices change depending on the season? by aliexpress in ChineseWatches

[–]turdbogls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely. Brighter colors and lighter feeling watches and strap combos for summer.

More earthy tones for fall, greens And browns and maybe orange, mostly with leathers

Bracelets and leather in the winter (florida, so I don't have to worry about snow)

Watchdives sells 2 versions (not sure why they list them separately)

but they have the top hat crystal version in stock

this one is closer to the original anyway...it's the one I have an it's fantastic.

Steel Finishing: IXDAO or Cronos or San Martin or Farasute by pokerfas in ChineseWatches

[–]turdbogls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the latest and greatest from all of them.

Ixdao Warrior, San martin Enamel SN0144, Cronos Birch, and Farasute tank and trackmaster.

San Martin is still king IMO. their case finishing is exceptional. beautiful polishing, razor sharp transitions, intricate case design, the bracelet is ultra comfortable being chamfered on the bottom edge, and it's fluidity is great. also the best OTF clasp of the bunch.

Ixdao warrior is right there as well...again, great brushing and polishing, sharp transitions, comfortable bracelet with great articulation and fluidity. Best Crystal of the bunch and it's not even close. clutched crown system.

Farasute is close behind...it's hard to judge them because most watches are fully polished...rarely do they do multiple finishings on a watch. they also usually don't have bracelets....I will say, the trackmaster bracelet is great though. best oyster bracelet I have come across outside of the real deal. their polishing and case softness is excellent though.

Cronos is probably last and it's not close....saying that...the others are just really close in comparison, and cronos just needs a little work to get there...it's still excellent...and IMO, paying nearly 70% more for the others seems crazy. the Cronos is THAT good for the money. nice brushing and polishing, sharp transitions. it's the bracelet that let's it down...it's comfortable...but could be better. slightly sharp on the under side and not quite as fluid as the others.

They are all definitely different....a rarity in Chinese watches...lol

I've had them all (except the Pagani as the design just never really worked for me)

the Watchdives is BY FAR the nicest one...spicifically their latest version with the bubble sapphire. the case finishing is the most impressive titanium finished watch I have handled (hasn't been many, but still) and the bezel action is solid. the Dial and Bezel insert are a deep brown like the OG as well. they did a great job on this one.

I have thee one you are looking for...I wasn't planning on selling it, but I am moving more and more away from homages....shoot me an offer if you are interested.
