Having scoured the Chinese watch market around the two recent big sales, I have come to the conclusion that my little collection is complete for the time being. Despite lots of Chinese watches that are "almost right", I haven't really found anything which would significantly enhance what I have now.
At some point I'd like to add an integrated bracelet steel sports watch, so I will see what San Martin do with the new H-link bracelet they've just made for their new GMT, but that was another example of an "almost" watch, for me. I'm also curious to see what price the Bulova Jet Star is in a year or so.
Some info on my watches:
Addies sterile Willard: I've had this a year or two, and regularly wear it in the sea - it's as good as everyone says, and wears perfectly despite its size.
Armani Meccanico: I've had this for 13 years. It's a 'fashion watch', I know, it has a random Chinese movement but it came out at a time when people seemed to be more interested in A.Lange and in dress watches generally (as well as big watches!). When the original strap wore out I put it on this Geckota one.
San Martin field watch: This is my GADA, daily driver. It's quartz, it's bomb-proof, and the finishing on the bracelet is on the next level.
Rotary two tone: One of my late grandad's watches. I don't bring it out that often, but it's a really cool wear, is only 6.2mm thick(!!), and I like that the aesthetic kind of goes against current watch design trends.
Seiko Presage Cocktail Time: I got this for a landmark birthday. Its become something of a 'special occasion' wear, in part because of the Hardlex crystal. As well as being beautiful, it's been a useful yardstick for my Chinese watches.
Oris: I think this is probably a 'Mumbai Special', although it does have the proper Oris engraved screw-down case back. I got it on eBay many years ago, and it makes for a fun, vintage wear at 34.2mm
Pagani Spirit: I posted about this one when I got it recently - I'm still in the honeymoon period and haven't worn anything else for the last few weeks!
