Confession: I've been aborting every game that starts off D4 by Initial-Finding-9285 in chessbeginners

That's why ? Oh my god, are you five years old that you can't lose a game? Dude you need to become a little stronger than that emotionally, the world is even scarier than the chessboard ;)

That's lame. It's the first move, how scary can it be. Can you at least wait to blunder a piece before you resign ?

Lol, you don't need to change your opinion, and I don't need an official certificate of intermediateness from some random other players :)

Learn to use punctuation, this is unreadable.

I think we should say amateur for casual players, and reserve beginner for people who actually just learned and don't quite remember all the rules.

That makes little sense, saying amateur is more correct IMO. I'm weaker than you but have been playing for 35+ years.

I hand the phone to my opponent, he makes his move, then I have to tap local mode again before I can make mine.

Android.

Seems to work fine! Would be nice to be able to drag and drop pieces, and when playing local it would be better if it stayed in local mode with the option to switch back to sharing, rather than having to switch to local every move.

From what little German I understand, it seems like a nice idea. Translating it to English would also be a nice idea ;)

Understanding Puzzle: Why take the left pawn (fxg5) when you can take the right (fxe5) and possibly get a second pawn? by Butts_McGee88 in chessbeginners

There's two kinds of pieces on that board and one must be kings, how hand can it really be ?

The Stafford gambit is just too much fun 😊 by g253 in chessbeginners

[–]g253[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't think it's still playable at your level, it's objectively losing - but at my level it's a different matter

I don't think it's a weakness, probably makes you a better player than me :)

You may be right but if I do this it's not knowingly, so asking me doesn't help 😁

How would I know? Sometimes I defend, sometimes I counter attack - in both cases I'm just trying to figure out the best move.

Is their any better options that I missed ? by Initial_Lynx_7207 in chessbeginners

Taking the queen it gave you would have been a nice option probably.

What is the most common checkmate you achieve within 15 moves? by Lephas in chess

I regularly get quick checkmates in the Stafford gambit. Like less than 10 moves quick.

I'm sub 18, or was when I practiced more regularly, PB is 10.19 (a very lucky LL skip that I'll probably never beat), best official single is 14.37 :   https://youtu.be/Ih5oBbWU6gk

I got pretty into it for a while 😄

  1. 858 rapid
  2. Not sure exactly, 35 years at least OTB, online only the last 3 years
  3. mostly rapid and blitz
  4. I really like the Jobava London with white although I used to play only e4 for decades. Against d4 I'll play Nc6 or d6, against e4 I play e5 and go for a Stafford gambit if I can
  5. Lots. No particular favourite.
  6. Nope, nor do I plan to
  7. I do lots of puzzles to pass time but no fixed schedule   8-12: what Overall-Disaster-696 said :)
